What would your D&D alignment be?

I see myself as a chaotic neutral. I don't care at all about other people, only my own survival, and have too many misanthropic / anti theist opinions, but I wouldn't want to harm anyone unless required for my own defense so I'm not evil. And I don't vote or care at all about politics, neither whatever the current politics are, nor do I have any desire to want to do anything to bring any changes to current politics.

Lawful neutral to lawful good, depending on the campaign and how I feel at the moment.
In CRPGs I tend to play a good character simply because that tends to get better loot, but in PnP RPGs, I like playing "Burn the Heretic!" Inquisitors/Priests.

Overall I suppose I gravitate around true neutral, with some neutral good and lawful neutral. I dunno. I've always figured D&D alignments weren't really useful outside of D&D.

I'd guess the closest to the A&D limited view of the world would be Lawful Neutral, slightly toward Lawful Good.
Respect the rules, respect the laws is the key point. Use necessary force to assure that, but not more than necessary.

Actually, that interpretation of "Lawful" might be better for a D&D context anyway, since The Law as a corrupt, oppressive, or malevolent force is such an easy hook for a campaign setting. Imagine something inspired by Robin Hood, The Scarlet Pimpernel, or Zorro, for example, or 1930s Fascist Europe or Slavery-era United States.

Well that long test I took in the other D&D thread says I am chaotic evil, although I personally view myself as more of a true neutral.

Actually one of the defining features of lawful neutral people is that they would help anyone if it was lawful to do so, but they would also abide to and follow evil laws as well. Imagine the bodyguards and close military personnel's of Kim Jong Un, those would be perfect examples of Lawful Neutral people, as well as soldiers simply carrying out orders even if the orders are immoral and wrong. While a lawful good person would refuse to carry out an order to launch a strike on innocent civilians, a lawful neutral would carry out the order without hesitation.
