Yes, those are the sort of options I was expecting in the poll: territories which actually are commonwealths of the United States. Puerto Rico would be another example.

Or, more cleverly, be a poll regarding states which call themselves a commonwealth (although that is not their legal status) e.g. the Commonwealth of Virginia.

inb4 Virginia/Kentucky/whatever is the best true commonwealth

Delaware is my favourite US state, because beyond its geographic location, I honestly don't know a goddam thing about it. Even non-places like North Dakota I know a little bit about, but Delaware? Total mystery. What language do they talk? What colour is the sky? Do hambugers eat people? Who knows!?

Spoilered, in case you want to remain not knowing things about Delaware!

Spoiler :
They have no sales tax, they have lots of microbreweries, and they were the first state to ratify the Constitution. Now you know three things!

You forgot to mention how business-friendly they are. Very business-friendly. The courts especially, which is why so many corporations place their headquarters there (something like 75%).

Best? No. Highest number of dickweeds per capita? Yup.

Pennsylvania wins the "real Commonwealths" poll largely by default. Virginia and Kentucky are full of traitors and the Boston metro area is full of...uh, apparently that gets censored.

Massachusetts has John Hodgman, though, which I feel settles the issue quite decisively.

On what possible planet is Ohio not in the Midwest? You're mixing it with...TENNESSEE? Please

If I were US citizen I would vote for the State with Homer Simpson ^^ Anyway there are probably a thousand towns named Springfield out there :)

Oh come on, Pennsylvania? It's an old deserted steel town and a second-rate Atlantic city with Alabama in the middle.

That isn't necessarily incompatible with Dachs judgement. It just makes his comments on the other three all the more damning. :mischief:

and Williamsport for the loons who like Little League baseball

Southwest, cause that is where the State of Utobitha and Best Friend Tabitha are located.
