Assuming you argee with a politician on most of the issues, or they belong to your party, would you..

...vote for a Scientologist?
....A Muslim?
....A Mormon?
....A Pagan?
....A Hindu?
.....A Catholic?

Explanations for your answers would be wonderful!
Yes I would, but obviously as I support the Lib Dems such a candidate would be inheritently liberal...which of course means toleranance and freedom of the individual!

I'd vote for any of them, though the scientologist would have to work hardest for my vote.

Scientologist...NO
Muslim............YES
Mormon...........YES
Pagan.............YES
Hindu..............YES
Catholic...........YES

Scientologist....No because they are just beggers for attention, obsessed with some weird sci-fi crap, and I don't even consider it a real religion.

All the others I have no prob with cause they are normal religions and nothing extreme or radical about them. However if the pagan was the Aztec sacrificial kind, who lives in America now, I probably wouldn't vote for that...Otherwise its freedom of religion all the way, and I respect that.

Muslims, Pagans, Hindus, and Catholics are fine, but a Mormon would probably spend all the budget trying to convert people and a scientologist, well, let's just say I want a smarter leader than Bush.

Scientologist: Definitely no, they are a psychotic fringe cult who's beliefs would sound dumb to a 5 year old.

Muslim: Probably not. It is likely dumb of me, but I can't say I particularly like or trust Islam at the moment.

Mormon: If he is a fringe polygamist, no, but if he is an average Mormon, I would vote for him, if his political views are similar to mine.

Pagan: I assume this is the new age/wicca/nature worshiping form of paganism we are talking about here, so probably not, for the simple reason I do not regard this as a religion. It is nothing more than a collection of superstitions with some PC crap thrown in. I also have a hard time believing that they actually believe it.

Hindu: I think Hinduism is a form of Paganism, but it is not a bunch of weird new age drivel, and it is large and established enough to count as a religion in it's own right, so I would base my vote on his politics.

Catholic: Maybe, it depends on his politics.

Assuming that this is about America, this nation is a Christian nation, I would trust neither of those religions besides Catholics. Mormons are an earlier sect that can be compared to Scientology, I do not consider them true Christians. By the way, before you say anything, I am an atheist.

What is a Christian Nation? a theocracy governed by the Bible? or a Nation for Christians only? the US are none of the above, so do you mean by a Christian Nation?

I would vote for the political agenda of the candidate and not exclude him because he belongs to a certain religion per se.
However, if you belong to a cult like Scientology then you are brainwashed for sure, thus I would not vote for any of its members. Belonging to a main-stream religion does not make you immune to become delusional or a zealot. This would turn me off a candidate no matter what religion he belongs to, even if his agenda would be acceptable - the danger is imo too big that such a person loses a healthy pragmatism and the connection to reality.

I could say the same thing about any religion on the planet, but I usually don't, to be nice :)

Scientology: No way ! Never trust them.
All others: OK, if i agree with their agenda...but then I doubt this would be the case with a religious politician.

Wow, so much love for Mormons. By the way, there are plenty of actual Mormon politicians out there (such as Harry Reid, Senate Minority Leader, or Mitt Romney, governor of Massachusetts) and they don't use government money to try to convert people or any such nonsense. In fact, as a religion we believe in a separation between church and state, the Church leadership tends not to get involved in politics, and we are very big proponents of religious tolerance.

Anyways, I would vote for any of them as long as their positions agreed with mine. That even included Scientology, as long as I truly felt that he or she would be the best possible choice. I don't even have a problem with someone whose political views are informed by their religious views, as long as they are not trying to get the tenets of their faith made into law.

Actually, I wouldn't vote for any of 'em, I'd vote for an Amish guy. :D

He'd definitely solve this "need for oil" problem and the CO2 emissions...
