Look Reagan was a dementia addled homophobic, transphobic, racist bigot who condemned millions of americans to a painful and preventable death but he could tell a joke so it's impossible to say whether he was bad or not

Could be. So what? Gonna call a foul and expect a free throw for it?

I mean, you're the one implying that we're just not good enough to get/laugh at Biden's joke. Assuming what you're saying is true (and I have no idea whether it is or not), it's not that voters can't laugh at themselves, it's that politicians have had to become hyper-cautious about the jokes they make because jokes that seem to be on a voter will be adduced as evidence that the candidate is an out-of-touch elitist who hates ordinary working stiffs.

I don't think saying "if you didn't get the joke" usually ends in "you are just not good enough," but okay.

Biden wasn't joking. He's been making ridiculous gaffes for MONTHS.

He's been making ridiculous gaffes for DECADES. If you think "look, he's making ridiculous gaffes, that makes him a terrible candidate" he's got seven successful senate campaigns to show you.

Well, you didn't leave it at "you didn't get the joke." You, basically, implied that voters today have egos too fragile to appreciate Biden's good old-fashioned humor.

I think what I implied is that his humor, much like he himself, is dated.

But, yeah, egos today are hilariously fragile, and being voters doesn't change that.

According to a recent Ipsos poll Sanders has the lead over Trump

(and yes I know... this is much too early for anything... but still...)

From Reuters:
Among all registered voters, including Republicans, 47% said they would vote for Sanders in a hypothetical general election matchup, while 40% said they would vote for President Donald Trump. Biden also has a 7-point advantage in support if he were the nominee, and Bloomberg would have a 4-point advantage.

Sanders is also heading up the Dems and support from African Americans is growing:
Among all registered Democrats and independents, 26% said they would vote for Sanders, while 15% said they were backing Bloomberg and another 15% supported Biden.
Senator Elizabeth Warren and former mayor Pete Buttigieg were each supported by 10% of respondents. Another 4% said they would vote for Senator Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota and 3% said they were supporting billionaire philanthropist Tom Steyer.
He also has increased his share of support from African Americans in the latest poll. When asked which candidate they would support in their state’s nominating contest, 26% said they would vote for Sanders, up 7 points from a previous reading conducted Jan. 29-Feb. 19.

So far... so good

I need a new desk, I can’t afford to keep headdesking for another few months.

Biden is confused and stressed and the people around him need to take care of this sick old man instead of having him run around the country trying to replace another confused old man.

Just in case you are really asking why people don't think that's a great idea, at least several hundred thousand of them, I live in a valley with two decent sized cities and several unincorporated rural areas for a total population of about half a million. About twenty thousand of them make their living in military aerospace, where they are grossly overpaid for what they actually do because the things they build cannot be built overseas, ever. Every other job in this valley is in some way shape or form living off the pass through money that those 20,000 people bring here and spend to be respent and respent. When you say "cut military spending" you are telling this half a million people "I think this would make a really great ghost town."

Do you have any idea how hard you make it to get a Democrat even within spitting distance of winning here when you promote "vote Democrat and destroy the local economy"?

Do you have any idea how many demographic pockets just like this one exist?

Plently, but that's due to a bloated military anyway over these last two decades churning out new fabricae everywhere.

I'm going to be callous. Industries rise and fall. Industries peeter out and die. And any industry based on the production of weapons of war - those are the ones that especially should be looking for a second gig at anytime.

And any democrat worth my vote is a democrat who will focus on keeping the economy going and produce alternative industries, alternative jobs, as well as a military cutter.

It's really time for all of this to be reigned in and tied down.

Better get a soft padded helmet. It's cheaper and more portable.
