A fact about the future

1) Lottery Numbers :p

2) The general state of the world in 2021, so that I can announce it to the world in advance and seem like an all-knowing foreign policy expert.

3) The top performing stocks, mutual funds, investments, etc in 2012.

4) When and how I will die, so that I can plan out what to do before that time comes.

I would ask how climate change can be solved.

Have your lottery numbers. I'll take invention patents that will rake in billions over years of subscription service and term of usage agreement licenses. Lets say a fusion powerplant patent.

The year in which clinical immortality becomes a reality for the average person. Or brain uploading. Preferably the one that precedes the other. I must take note of said date.

I'd go with: how many star systems in the observable universe contain life forms of intelligence comparable to our own? That'd be an interesting one no matter what the answer was.

Edit: ack, it had to be about the future! Then how many of said star systems will develop intelligent life forms in the next billion years? There we go.

Actually, if I were to choose something that would not bring me personal financial profit, I kind of want to see a chart of the inflation-adjusted gold price from 2011 to 2065. I would want to know it just so I can laugh at the gold people.

Edit (12/2011): wow. Talk about an unpredictable future!

Another hypothetical...
If you could choose just ONE piece of information to know about the future, either your own, or the world's in general - what would you pick? And why? Or would you not take the risk at all?
This can be anything from as simple to what your last meal will be before you die to as complicated as you like!
The only thing to remember is that this piece of information is unchangeable, once you know it, you can't stop it happening even though it's not happened yet. So the risk is there I suppose...

There is a problem here. If you tell to somebody the future than what you are really doing is to take him his future. Believing in told he will alter his actions in favor of what he believes it will happen.

LOTTERY - if i can choose the number to buy. i dont play the lotto so i dont know if this is possible.

to make the thread more interesting....

which startup today will be a titan in the future. i'd try to get in with the owners and have them issue me stock in exchange of my funds. a decent 100000% return wouldn't be too bad :P

What use is the information if you can't change the future. Lottery number is useless if your future isnot set towin.

Id rather ask,"will I win the lottery?" I don't need a definite answer for that though. Its most likely no and I. Don't need to know in advance.
