It's just part of the continual ‘mine is older than yours’ mystique of the monarchy, same as ‘we haven't been invaded since 1066 if you don't count all those times when we have’.

I hastily put together a map looking at population trends of the 20 largest US cities in 1950 and how they changed from then to 2020.
14 of 20 cities lost population during that 70-year time span, and Los Angeles, Houston, and Seattle are the only cities that have grown every decade from 1950-2020. Of the cities that have lost population, many of them bottomed out sometime between 1980 and 2000, and have since recovered in numbers slightly. However, others, such as St. Louis and Detroit, have continued to experience population declines.
The thumbnail feels like it's trying to copy polandball. Thank god I'm not interested in that sort of stuff any more, although some comics there were really quite nice and were works of passion. I can't imagine what it is like now.
Russia having to manage all that land would be stupid anyway... imagine the AE! There'd be a coalition for sure. But as they say in the field: "AE is just a number."
Likely for the same reason Constantinople is an international zone. Btw, this map was originally posted years ago, by another CFC member (found it by chance).
