Do I need to ask what happened there?

the soviet union decided to replace Colonel Stanislav Petrov with someone less experienced with computer problems. then the computer showed 5 nuclear weapons approaching the soviet union. (that was a computer error)naturally that person contacted the kremlin.

the Soviets launched their nuclear weapons at the USA, and allies, and china.

the USA saw that, and lauched their own nukes. China launched nukes to the Soviet union.

...and everyone joined the lets launch nukes party. this is the result.

(apparently, relations with Soviet Siberia are not affected by that, much to my disappointment)

The world map from 1983: Doomsday:

Do you have a big version of that image at all? I'd love to see the small city sized areas names.

i have to admit, i think some countries in that ATL is unrealistic. i mean, why is the Celtic alliance there? wouldn't it make more sense to be Scotland or Ireland?

That map is way too cluttered, it should at least have numbers to represent some countries and a key showing which number corresponded to which country/alliance.

Ugh. Did the Tunis Pact and the Eastern Alliance have to pick such similar colors? Looks like Tunisia, Egypt, and Turkey are the only ones in the pact, but I honestly can't tell for sure.

Based ont eh legend, I am assuming that the Eastern Alliance includes the Tunis pact (as the Easter Alliance lock is half Tunis colour and half another).

Might have been better to pick maybe dark red for the Tunis Pact then.

And by 2021 all of the ex-Yugoslav states would have joined the EU.

Hahaha *cough* haha *cough* :mischief:

(Not really. It's just 10 years from now, so only Croatia has a good chance to be a member by then.)

Norway really doesn't want to join the EU, and I really don't see the Yemeni government collapsing.

Haven't you watched the news in the past several months? It tops my list of countries that are likely to end up like Somalia.

Um... Greenland is not currently a colony or a part of the European Union. Get your facts right.

Well Croatia is expected to join the EU by 2012-2013, I dont think we're that far behind them.

I'm pretty convinced Bosnia is far behind Croatia when it comes to joining the EU.
