Apparently, 'English-speaking' means "not in Europe".

The position is prolly decided by the average result from a questionnaire, not really the "map" makers fault where they land.

Well, I think that's because the "communist" regimes were all "religion is poison" and tried to eradicate it, and they had partial success in this. So in Bosnia there is a higher percentage of atheists than in Canada.

But still, the Communists did ban things like those Arab ninja headcovers, evolution in school, segregated politics from religion (even though religion is seeping in once more)....But Canada has Gay marriage, more atheists and non-religious people and so on...I really didn't expect Bosnia to be so high, let alone Serbia which I always considered as religious and if not more religious than Bosnia.

My only "connection" to the former eastern block is a czech friend, and he describes Czechia as a very atheist country, but I'm pretty sure (I know, really) the different countries had varying success in the "atheistification".

Everyone here claims to be a certain religion but most are irreligious if not atheist...as most of the east bloc we are a very atheistic country.

Well, I don't have information contradicting (or supporting) that, so I can't argue.

Probably. Vietnam apparently calls itself an atheist state. Though according to Wikipedia, most people still does the things their religions involve out of tradition.

I was sort of surprised that Laos was so different from Vietnam, as it's also a "communist" regime.

Also, I just took the maps from Wikipedia without doing too much research, have some sceptisism.

The word "hour" in various languages

Interesting how a some languages seem to use another language's word for the word "time" to mean hour, such as in the case of Russian, for example.. and the other obvious example which sticks out.

Interesting. Most surprising is the shared root in German and the Baltic/Finnish language area. Can someone explain this?

Also I guess pink is "other" and the words aren't actually related?
