Altered Maps XII: Not to Scale

Nice dream there, Winner :jesus:

More like a thought experiment challenging the prevailing notions that WW2 had to end up like it did. I admit it is a bit tongue-in-cheek in many aspects. I like to play with this scenario, it offers many possibilities, and not only for my homeland. I should probably make a rough sketch of Asia in this timeline, but I am afraid my knowledge of the region is insufficient to make it very detailed.

My biggest complaint is that the division of Poland looks very very ugly.

In my opinion Poland is the only country that cannot be partitioned in a nice way. It always looks wrong.

I don't think the Polands look too bad if united. But right now? That PROP looks like a grossly-deformed head with gaping mouth and a big chunk missing like someone's sliced off the brain. Unless that's a metaphor for something.

This is the only division of Poland that looks remotely good:

Since when are artificial divisions based on superpowers' whims supposed to *look* good?

Eastern Poland exists to serve Soviet interests. They need an "independent" Polish state to claim sovereignty over the whole of Polish territory. It doesn't have to look good on the map, it has always been meant as a temporary solution, until Western Poland collapses. For the time being, East Polish and Soviet troops are deployed along the Vistula, waiting for an order to sweep off Western forces in the Western Polish "bulge".

I've many questions about your map:

  • How come does Finnmark being part of the USSR/Soviet Finland?

There was a plan back in ze 40's to raze everything of infrastructure in Finnmark and let the Soviet union take it.

I unfortunatly don't know the details.

This is a map thread, not a political thread, I'm allowed to complain about aesthetics.

in his defense, most of the maps posted here ARE of a politcal nature...
Also, obligatory Baarle-Hertog/Nassau mention.

Corps. The limits of each Army Corps area.

Usually corps boundaries are indicated by ----XXX----

I only put together maps which I've found on the net, briefly checking whether they're at least partially correct. This is sufficient as a general overview of the military situation.

The important point being that the Czechoslovak army was fully mobilized and ready, whereas the Wehrmacht had only begun preparing for offensive operations and needed weeks more to get there. Basically the whole of Fall Grün plan in so far as I understand it was already ruined, because it assumed an attack against an unprepared country.
