Ank10 - 3CC AWM

Leader for library, methinks.

That is true. Leader for library.

And I am up, but would Bugs be able to swap, I won't (propably) have time until Sunday..

Pre-flight – We’ve met everyone, but the Koreans. We’ve already gotten rid of the French. Six to go.

Isabella has seven cities. One of them is named York. How sweet of her and Elizabeth to have a little spat, all because of us.

Dizzy Lizzy has five cities and it appears she has one city that is a pile of rubble to the west of London.

Monty has six cities and is one tech short of the MA. Bismark has eight cities and is the same tech short. Hannibal has six cities and is a different tech short of the MA.

My only concern at the moment is that we appear to have split our forces. I will figure out another Hammer and anvil approach where we fight a holding action in one location while we sweep with a hammer on another side of the front.

IBT – A German horse dies to our horse.
Bursa: horse=>sword

1. 530 BC – Our cats can’t get to Spain, due to the jungle.

@ Tenochtitlan – Kill two spears, lose a warrior and a sword (3-2)

IBT – Lose a sword to the Spanish and kill a German archer.
Istanbul: Sword=>sword

2. 510 BC – Kill two more spears at Tenoch. Still have another one. (6-3)

IBT – Lose the two swords outside Tenoch.

3. 490 BC – March on Murcia. Start a strategic road towards Spain. Lux up 10% (6-5)

IBT – Isabella wants to talk. She still has seven cities.

4. 470 BC - @ Murcia – Retreat a horse, lose a sword, finally kill the defending spear and raze the city. Collect a slave.

Spot a Spanish galley, so I’ll be expecting some visitors in our backyard.

I bump science up for a while to get literature quicker. (7-6)

IBT – Istanbul: sword=>sword

5. 450 BC – Lose a horse to an Aztec archer. Lux down 10%. (7-7)

IBT – Carthage moves two warriors onto our eastern road. Two Germans approach the homeland.
Bursa: sword=>sword

6. 430 BC – Kill a German warrior, kill a Jag. Lux up 10%. (9-7)

IBT – Retreat a Spanish horse.

7. 410 BC – Kill another German warrior. The Home front is safe for the time being. Lux back down. (10-7)

IBT – Kill an Aztec archer, lose a sword to an Aztec archer.
Two Carthaginian warriors approach down the horse/wine road.
Istanbul: sword=>sword

8. 390 BC – Maneuvering. (11-8)

IBT – Kill two Spanish archers.
Edrine: Temple=>horse
Bursa: sword=>sword

9. 370 BC – Kill two Carthaginian warriors. (15-8)

IBT – Lose a horse to the Spanish. An Aztec archer approaches our cat stack.

10. 350 BC - Bombard then kill the Aztec. Kill two Spanish archers. (18-9)

After Action – The kill ratio is pretty lousy, 2:1. We are starting to cut a road through the Spanish jungle. Getting our cats to Spain will help our casualty rate immensely. There is one more jungle tile to road, and then the cats can get through. We will need to send a few units towards the east. I have three swords SE of our lands that can be sent in that direction.

For the time being I would concentrate on Spain. And fight a holding action in the east.

Literature is due in 8.

Here’s the situation down in Spain:
ANK_10_-_350_BC_-_Spain.jpg

The units are scattered from killing Spanards. I would consolidate and wait on the cats. The jungle road will be done in two or three turns with the workers that are there. In six turns, you can attack the Spanish capitol (red dot) with catapults. I held off making a gems colony because we needed the jungle road more.
Here’s a general campaign strategy, that I would like the team to discuss.

ANK_10_Campaign_Plan.jpg

Phase one: Hold in the vicinity of the red line in the east, while taking out the Spanish and the English (yellow line). My reasoning here, is that they are weakened by their war with each other. Given the lack of English units, I’m assuming they are still at war. Elizabeth’s power curve is in decline.

Phase two: Turn our attention to the east. Fight a holding position in the vicinity of white line while attacking the Aztecs, Germans and Carthaginians. No telling where the Koreans are. I’m pretty sure Hannibal lives east of Bismark.

Our biggest issue at the moment is our lack of labor. We could probably use a few workers to build some outposts and forts (once we have construction) on the red line. Hopefully our number of slaves will be increasing.

Note: The save was bad, so I had to go back to 370 BC autosave and replay. The situation is slightly different than posted.

Got it, posting soon. :)

Good job, better kill ratio than my last, anyway. :D

EDIT: Looks like you forgot to upload the better save, the current one is corrupt. :(

Shameless ad: Join Ank11. It is Cultural domination redone on Emperor as the Zulu. Cool. It'll be fun and insane, which I know people playing this game will propably like. Join up. :cooool:

350BC [Preturn]: Check to see how we are doing.

Looking fine. Lit due in 8... I guess we will get the GLib. If we don't, we'll have to capture and keep the city that builds it...

IBT: Vet sword makes Spanish horse retreat and kills Spanish archer.

Istanbul sword > sword.

330BC [1]: Move units around, regroup.

IBT: Spanish reg archer kills 3-hp sword without scratches. (1-1)

Spot a jag.

310BC [2]: Lose a vet horse to the same archer.
Second vet horse finally does the job. (2-2)

IBT: No counterattacks... :hmm:

Culture at Edrine expands.

290BC [3]: Nothing... stil regrouping. The road for the cats got ready, though.

IBT: Monte wants peace. Sorry, not now.

3 jags appear near Edrine.

Istanbul sword > sword.
Edrine horse > horse.
Bursa sword > horse.

270BC [4]: Vet horse from Edrine kills one of the jags. (3-2)

IBT: Spanish horse dies barely to our vet horse on a hill. (4-2)

Two German archers appear near the colonies.

250BC [5]: Vet sword kills another jag near Edrine.

Catapaults are now in Spanish territory.

Move both of the colony spears to the colony the Germans are next to.

IBT: 2 Brown warriors appear. Germans flee. Several units going towards our territory. We'll need to get the wall up fast.

230BC [6]: Vet sword kills archer on a hill easily.

The warriors are from Carthage. Seems that we have met them already...

Vet and elite swords kill a reg and vet archer on mountains respectively; the elite one is redlined, but wins. (7-2)

IBT: Carthaginian warrior kills our sword. (7-3)

Units move towards our nation...

We research Literature. :D Turn research off.
Istanbul sword > GLib.
Edrine horse > horse.

210BC [7]: Hurry the GLib.

Bombard Madrid (I think, can't see name) with no results.

Vet sword is redlined when attacking archer on forest.

Move sword in Spanish territory, and yes, it is Madrid. One worker move to the Gems to build a colony. I wonder whether it's better to use a slave or one of our own... :hmm:

Vet sword kills jag in the Great Eastern Plains
Vet sword kills jag on a mountain near Edrine and promotes. (10-3)

IBT: Our lonely wandering sword in Spania defends victoriously agains 2 archers without casualties and is promoted to elite.

And, just after the turn I moved the second spear back to the other colony, a German horse attacks and pillages the deinforced one. Gah.. (12-4)

And the best part of this turn:

210bc_glib.jpg

Bursa horse > sword.

190BC [8]: No bombard successes this turn either.

Vet sword kills reg warrior > promotes to elite. (13-4)

IBT: 2 2 German archers appear near Bursa. Argh.

We get Philo, CoL, MM, Poly, Currency, and construction from the GLib and enter the Middle Ages. :D

Our free tech is engineering - propably the best we could get now, we don't need to spend the one move when crossing a river.

170BC [9]: Vet horse kills archer on a hill, but is redlined.

We now have a gems colony and can currently use luxtax at 0. We are getting 13gpt. Markets would do good...

Elite sword kills reg warrior. (14-4)

Have to move some troops from cities to protect Bursa, so luxtax back to 10.

IBT: Spear protecting the worker kills the 2 archers and is promoted to elite. Elite sword makes German horse retreat. (16-4).

150BC [10]: Bombardment still useless.

Now we have enough troops at Madrid to propalby attack next turn... or a few turns later. There are troops healing, too.

Vet horse kills the latecoming German archer at Bursa.

The elite sword that made the elite horse retreat, kills the same horse with one swordthrust and...

150bc_leader.jpg

Murad heads home. Quite nice to get a leader in the last battle of the turnset. :D

Our Eastern area is a bit scattered.
150bc_east.jpg

The South isn't too strong either.
150bc_south.jpg

Notes: We should get the anvil up in the East ASAP. There are enemies leaking in all the time.

We should decide where to use our leader. IMHO a sword or horse army would be good in ridding the world of Spain and England. Although there might be some other wonders to think about too... or a market. But the army would be the best now.

Sir Bugsy - played before Ankka
grs - UP!
Bede - on deck
andvruss
Ankka - just played

REMEMBER: 24h to post a "got it", total 48 to post turnlog and save.

And the save to next better player.

Got it.

I don't see any wonder we could need. In fact, only the Lighthouse is available and the Hanging Gardens could be soon, since Catharge has Monarchy. I would say it't time for a sword army (can't even build horses right now and Feudalism is far away with no one having it). Next could be Heroic Epic to get more leaders and after that we might think about wonders again.

Btw, the Koreans seem to be on an isle of their own; their contact is not available anywhere.

We should propably build some galleys to check out the world and Korea...

:bounce:  Gonna go read some erotica in the new library...

*Bugsy looking over Bede's shoulder in the library*
Ahem!
*Bugsy looks up*
I think we should capture Madrid, build the army and disband the city
*Bugsy goes back to looking over Bede's shoulder*

We are dirty old men. What did you except?

Edit - More cats needed. A galley would be nice.

Don't forget the opportunity to make the closer acquaintance of the fair Isabella.

And you are absolutely right, about the leader and the army. Go Turks!

We could introduce her to Joan in our Turkish harem.

Bede shouts to the Librarian: "Where do you keep the Kama Sutra?!"
