Anno Domini

Speaking of update, when will this be released?
When I've moved house and settled in. Hopefully the move will happen in the next 2-3 weeks.

So I have all the civilization dlcs except polynesia but i have none of the map packs except explorers. would this work without the map packs?
It would work without the map packs, but it needs Polynesia, the other civs and the ancient wonders DLCS.

i downloaded the mod, installed it, selected it, started a new single player game through the mods menu but it seems as if the mod doesnt load and i am playing a vanilla game.
I can't select other civs besides the standard ones nor do i see any new techs.

I had this problem as well, It was because when i dropped the patch file into the main file and had overwritten everything i still had the .modinfo file in the patch folder. after I pulled the .modinfo file outta there and deleted the empty patch folder it worked fine.

The game worked fine for me on a random civilization but I have been having problems with the picts not working. Could it be similar to the han problem?

Great mod!

Tech progression is very slow, which leads to patches of tech lag. Perhaps lowered tech costs or more tech buildings might fix this.

Not enough happiness buildings, which makes it difficult to create a large nation.

Wealth focus, Science focus or culture focus should be allowed from start but not at full strength until a tech is researched. I often run into areas in the tech tree where I have nothing to build and can only construct military units only to delete them when the are finished so as not to get a massive army.

Finally, consider useing alluminum for Bronze, would be a helpful early game production resouce.

Rob: I realized this was the only way to contact you. I am trying to do some leaderhead stuff. What websites/places do use for Poser accessories?

Thanks

by the way: love Anno Domini and am hoping a new version comes out soon!!

Not sure why this is; everything should be fine right now.

Some good feedback there and worth taking into account for....Anno Domini II!

Thanks for the positive feedback; Anno Domini II will be modded once Gods and Kings comes out; I'm planning to make a version with the new stuff (such as religions and the new units and abilities later this year).

I get all my art stuff (including Poser) from www.daz3d.com

Anno Domini for Civ V is now available for download. It's a large file for a Civ V mod, weighing in at 118MB; also it requires all the DLC apart from the Polynesian one. Enough about the constraints! Let's talk about what Anno Domini is all about :).

It's a complete conversion of the Civ V "epic game" with 33 civs to play. Each of them come with brand new leaderheads, available for the very first time. The leaderheads, whilst being 3D models, are static. The civs spread from the Han in the east, the Nok and Punt in Africa, Brigantia, the Picts, Iceni and Corieltauvi from my homeland, the UK and lots of other civs geographically placed between them. These include the everpresent Romans (for ancient Med Civ games that is!), Egypt and Persia, as well as civs not in the epic game, such as the Iberians, Epirus and the Iceni. Each civilization's trait is unique.

There's lots of new techs, such as administration, maritime structures, woodworking and defence strategy; altogether, the tech tree has 55 techs to discover. All of them allow buildings, wonders, units and worker actions.

The mod has numerous wonders in it. They are available in the Civ III version, but many have not been in Civ V mods; Hipparchus' star charts, the Epic of Gilgamesh, Bacchanalia and the Silk Road come to mind.

Whilst the game is fully playable and available for download, at this point six civs still need a "Dawn of Man" piece to be written. The civilopedia is mainly complete, save a few items here or there (though all the information you require for the game is in the civilopedia).

The download for the mod is available here.

Installation
1. Extract the files to: C:\users\(your name)\documents\my games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\MODS\
2. Play Civ 5 and browse mods
3. Click on "install"

Please note: you will need to have all the DLCs in order for Anno Domini to work. Please do not post any issues if the reason is that you've not got all the DLCs.

Anno Domini is currently not compatible with any other mod, so please ensure it's the only one that's active when you play the game, otherwise the mod will not work.

There have been a couple of occasions when the mod has crashed at the point where a game is about to start, but is then okay if you restart the game. There have been no in-game crashes in playtesting.

*EDIT 13/01/12: There is, inevitably, a patch attached to this post. Please download it and put it in the same filepath as above, overwriting a handful of the files.

Any chance of a no requirement version with a picture for leaders taken from dlcs(they're static anyway so its not a huge loss)? That would attract more people to this mod.

I don't think the DLC requirements are because of leader images, as all leader images are new in this mod. I think it's because of the unit models, and perhaps also unit/building icons, and wonder models.

Hi - Anno Domini is only compatible with the standard Civ 5 game, not Gods and Kings. The thing is, G&K adds new files which make the mod unable to work. You could disable G&K on the "DLC" tab, I believe that should work.

I am working on a G&K version, so watch this space ;)!

It won't work properly after disabling the expansion, due to a problem with text keys. It should work (but I haven't checked it) after removing the Expansion subfolder from the DLC folder, like NiGHTS does.

Looking forward :)

I don't have any of the DLC except for the one from the Collector edition, so I unfortunately won't be able to play this mod. Is that a design choice or is it something inherent to the Civ 5 engine ?

But the Leaders look beautiful, Rob. I'm sure the rest of the mod is as good as previous iterations. :)

It is a design choice. I couldn't do what I personally wanted to do with the mod without including the DLC. Others have chosen to make DLC-free mods and they are really good - but it just wasn't right for my style of mod making.

You're a gentleman, sir, and thank-you. The leaders for the new Gods and Kings version have improved in my opinion. Some have been re-assigned and mixed around - well, you'll all see when I complete and upload the mod. I am working on it as much as possible and hope to have it out in the next couple of weeks.

If you would like, it's possible to make it so, for instance, if a certain building uses DLC content, that building then only appears if the player has that DLC, the building being excluded otherwise. In this manner it's possible to use DLC content to the fullest extent, without making your mod incompatible to those who don't own the DLC.

I used this method in my mod to make the Domesday Book project I had created available only if the player owns the Denmark DLC:

Code:
-- Domesday Book
UPDATE Projects SET Type =
( CASE WHEN EXISTS(SELECT Type FROM Civilizations WHERE Type="CIVILIZATION_DENMARK" )
		THEN "PROJECT_DOMESDAY_BOOK"
		ELSE "REMOVE_THIS" END
    ) WHERE Type = "PROJECT_DOMESDAY_BOOK";
DELETE FROM Projects WHERE Type = "REMOVE_THIS";

I am new to mods, so please forgive me if this is a normal thing, but why is everything you can ever build, units, buildings, wonders, from every era, all available right away from the beginning?

Do you have the Gods and Kings expansion? If so, that could be the source of your problems.

Firstly I love this mod and what it might be in the future. Unfortunately, when I play this mod I get random crashes due to rendering issues. I do not get this problem playing Civ 5 with no mods, only when I play with this mod enabled. The crashes are completely random, sometimes at the end of a turn, middle of a turn, just random.

Have you heard or know about this issue?

Hi Klipche and welcome to Civfanatics. I'm glad you're enjoying the mod but am not sure which version you're playing. Things have moved on since the version this thread was about was in vogue; the latest version, for Gods and Kings, is available here.
