Brexit Thread V - The Final Countdown?!?

The ECJ did say article 50 could be revoked following a democratic process, implying that they might require a Parliamentary vote.
Probably not a good idea either, though. I mean it would be logical to erase the older ref result only with a new one.
By the way, april is the deadline for that too.

29th March 2019, yes. The fact that the date is in the legislation was of course her Govt folding to ERG rebels. The only amount of gumption ever shown by the Govt has been towards the Labour party, Remain voters and the rest of Parliament, rather than its rebel right-wing.

Historically, this is one of Theresa May's favourite bureaucratic activities.
Surpassed only by her hostile environment policies, which she no doubt took actual satisfaction in enacting.

The one benefit is that if as I expect May wins easily it will show just how few hardline Brexiteers there really are. Maybe then we can rule out the lunacy of a no deal Brexit.

Hey! You forgot to add music!

The Queen has already been notified: by exiting the Galileo program, also Figaro will be off-limits. Perhaps magnifico is negotiable.

May and co. are working on this. For example, it has been suggested that Tycho Brahe might metrically sub for Galileo excellently.

Yes
This evening we will see how few Tory Brexiteers are prepared to risk their party and their country for their folly
I am already looking forward to that :)
And if she gets more than 199 votes, it will be more than the votes she got at being chosen PM in 2016

So May has won the the vote

Would be nice to know how many Remainers voted against her

So, the ERG fails again, May totters on and nothing changes. On the bright side, at least she won't be forced to go by her own party for another year.

May survives. 200 to 117. Not as decisive as she hoped for but enough for her to carry on I think.
So we have to sigh with relief that there won't be (for now?) a Johnson or Rees-Mogg premiership while we still rue the fact that there is no competent leadership in sight.

People seem to be writing off a Boris premiership now. Hes missed his moment or thats the hope at least.
In another year Brexit should be settled (god, I hope so) and Boris like Heseltine or Rab Butler will have joined the long list of people who never quite made it.

So, did we learn anything new from this brief spasm? It seems like the UK is in the same place they were before the no confidence vote. None of the Tories really like the Maybot, but realize only wierdos want her job - and those wierdos need to be kept as far from power as possible. No parliamentary arithmetic has changed, the Tories are seemingly more concerned with Jezza becoming PM than actually being a government, there is no change to the Brexit deal, and the recent chicanery toward Parliament has not endeared any of the opposition to change their minds and support the Maybot in large enough numbers to sideline the hardliners in the Tory party.

Thorvald's post:
Hugo Rifkind, "Here follows a Brexit thread."

Ajidica, there's no seemingly about it. Corbyn is the monster under the bed to frighten recalcitrant MPs with.
