Sup. Looks liked a lot has changed over here in six months. I'm especially ecstatic about the intro of K-Mod, playable minor civs, and American decolonization. Will have to try this all out when I get Civ working on my computer again.

Unless I'm seriously missing something, none of those features is already implemented though (except K-Mod). It depends on what you call 'minor civs': are Thailand, Italy and the Mughals minor?

That's, unfortunately, only my plan for the future (thus answering alpav's question as well).

What's behind those playable minor civs? I've been playing around with some civs that are semi-represented by barbarians or independents now which I think could just as well be full-fledged civs that are even playable. Most of them are civilizations that don't have that large of an impact on what's going on in the rest of the map. Of the already existing additions, I would file Italy, Korea and Thailand as playable minors too. Their area will still be covered even if they're not there, and their existence doesn't fundamentally alter the course of the game.

I think there could be more civilizations like that. However, I realize that the map is already crowded and the number of civs is slowing some peoples' games down. So I will introduce the option to either completely disable or randomize the appearance of these civs (so they'll show in say only every third game).

There are currently four civs where I have almost a full concept for that could be included in this way. This is not including decolonization civs.

Wild speculation is exactly what I wanted to start! :D

I'm guessing Zulu, Jurchens, Celts & dare I say it? Sioux.

Wrong (just kidding)

My guess would be:

Moors
Tamils
Kiev Rus
Somebody in Northern China (Jurchens, Manchus etc)
Poland

(I know its 5 but I really hope these are in)

Moors would definitely be interesting.

I can foresee goals like:

-Control Iberia & France by 1400 AD.
-Build the Mezquita + (etc.)

In a multitude of games, it'd change the landscape of Europe significantly.

Can I ask why we're even considering Oman? Seems incredibly insignificant.

First off, we're not; it was, as stated, simply wild speculation. Second, they had a considerable naval empire, competitive with that of the Portuguese, from the late 17th through the mid 19th Centuries. They had colonies in both E Africa and India. Not a world-shaking empire but hardly insignificant.

Woop Woop, V1.9!!! Thank you so much Leoreth, I swear I'll surrender more of my social life as soon as my computer gets fixed!

Also, do you plan on including a UU, UB & UP for each of these civs Leoreth? And do you think it might also be possible for us to select which minor civs we want in our game directly from the menus? (maybe via Checkboxes etc?)
"RFC: Dawn of Civilization - featuring all-new customizable civ roster!" Sounds pretty good amirite?

Personally though, I do not think Jurchens would be a good addition.
Their overall impact and contribution to the world has been quite minimal,
especially compared to the Mongols, who are the easiest analogue.

I would prefer a Poland inclusion or actually...

Kongo. Their UP could be similar to the
Inca UP in that Jungles provide Food and Hammers.

Something in the pre-Mongol western steppes would be neat. 'Bulgars' could work as an umbrella to include groups like the Kutrigur and Khazars also.

I'm guessing something for south India, something for the Maghreb, and Poland.

Good idea

Obviously they're going to be Champa, Olmecs, Hawaii, and the Central African Empire.

You're really not bad at this ;)

Being able to select which will be in the game or not (or leave it randomized) is the point behind them, yes. And as I said, that might retroactively be applied to civs like Italy, Thailand and Korea too.

Of course they will have UU, UB, UP and UHV. For the four I've mentioned I basically have all of that already. But some of the civs you guessed (wrong) don't sound that bad either ... ;)
