Have you played Japan recently?
Their modifiers are crap..

I was under the impression that this conversation was about the performance of AI Japan, not Human Japan.

I didn't think Leoreth changed Japan much other than reducing their stable area.
But I'll fire up a Japan game soon then.

On Japan, starting in the 600 AD Scenario seems to be a lot easier for player despite lost time. Perhaps they should get free granaries in the 3000 BC?

They also start with Aesthetics extra in 600 AD. There is nowhere near enough time to do that from 520 AD on current start with only one city. I would suggest changing that tech to Monotheism and starting them with Organized Religion in both scenarios, despite no tech for it from 520 AD. 25% production boost for infrastructure does a lot.

i didnt know that the A.I. leaders had any effect on how their civ performs.

It influences things like how likely they are to trade techs (that's a huge one), how likely they are to declare war on stronger neighbours and so on.

Other than the already brilliant basic Civ IV soundtrack you're also missing the very neat diplomusic some of the new leaders have.

Hi all! I'm new in this forum but I started playing this mod several years ago. I want to congratulate with who created it, thanks Leoreth :D

Welcome to the Forum :D

Is there programmed to be a war on terror in the late game? Because in my latest game, I was randomly at war with the Independents from about 2000 onwards, and they had pretty major armies they were actually using to attack me with.

Your vassals are capable of declaring without your consent, so that might be the problem. The major armies obviously come from the collapse of a large civilization.

Well, that would be me, I guess; they were from parts of my old empire I didn't reconquer. It was surprising how aggressive and strong those armies were and how well-timed they attacked; I actually lost two cities to them.

This is the first time I've posted in years, and have only recently come back to CivIV (which means only DOC and SOI). I am absolutely blown away by how far this mod has come. After a few months of being awed by the awesomeness of DOC, I have found there to be one troubling aspect: the UHV's for the SEA civs. All of them have a large focus on huge populations, and after studying the history of the region for the last two semesters I have learned that one of the most important circumstances for shaping the historical trajectory of the region is its extremely low population. Outside of central Java, the population to land ratio was so disparate that the main economic pursuit of most of the island polities in the region was slave raiding (which was very lucrative due to this disparity). As for the mainland polities, their main focus in--and often the reason for--war was the capture of enemy combatants to be used as slaves in order to alleviate the lack of manpower. The capitol of Angkor (but ONLY its capitol) and the Red River Valley in N Vietnam were the exceptions. After the French and British drained the deltas of the Mekong and the Irrawaddy, the population exploded. But this did not occur until the late 19th century. Addressing this would probably require an overhaul of resource placement in the region and the creation of new UHV's. I doubt you (Leoreth the Incomparable) have any desire to make such major adjustments, but in the case that your are willing, I thought I'd bring my concern to your attention. Congratulations on the best game ever!

Fantastic mod, it's brilliant :]
I just have a problem though, there seems to be a point where the game just becomes an ice cube and I have to close it via task manager (around about 1500 CE, maybe earlier on European ones), for instance I opened world builder to see the civilisations that were there (because it interests me) and it took 10 minutes to close and then it crashed just after.

I've got other mods that are more feature infested but they aren't as crippling as this one, so is there a problem with this one? I've turned all the graphics on their lowest and I still have to stay zoomed-in fully (it doesn't help when Barbarossa contacts you every turn).
