Renaming a city is part of the interface, has been since vanilla.
Just click your city name in the city manager screen and change it.
It's no more "cheating" than Set Rally Point or Set Production Queue.

I'd like to randomize or prevent the Mughals from spawning. How do I do it ? any suggestions ? Also is it possible to change their core plot from north india to Herat and Merv ?

I think that is actually a pretty good idea. Maybe the Mughal spawn should instead of flipping Delhi, it should start out with a huge SOD outside of it so you can prepare as India.

yeah but is there actually a way to do it in-game ? Citis (I think) suggested that I make delhi my capital to prevent the Mughals from spawning. Don't know if that stops their spawn....

No. Capitals can flip, unless it's your only city or when your capital is build on the spawning spot. As Delhi isn't the spawning spot of India, Delhi will flip. (Given Delhi isn't your only city)

Yeah, capitals can flip. The only capitals that are protected from flipping are the ones at the starting point.

Do you mean you want the Mughals to start not in Indian territory? You can change their capital location and flip area, iirc, to somewhere far away like NZ or Canada by editing the Consts.py

I did that to Thailand sometimes

Ah thanks for the tip Ben . I want to make them spawn in Herat and Merv. The homeland of Babur the first Mughal. Have them invade India with horse archers, muskets and bombards ( not elephants ! ) .

I remember drafting my first concepts of what I would change in RFC if I could (I couldn't back then) during the last German federal elections, which would make this September 2009. I think the first release was in March/April 2010 (it's when the main thread here was posted). Why? I think because I considered it a waste that several BtS civs are not in while they definitely should be. I started with several minor things, though, to learn the easier parts, inspired mainly by other modmods that were around at that time. v1.7 was released in October 2010, iirc, not sure about v1.73.

Since German Federal Elections 2013 is just couple of days away, should we say Happy 4th Birthday DoC around now or wait until April 20?

The 1700 scenario is, unfortunately, horrific. I know that Leoreth probably doesn't have enough time to dedicate to it, so I might volunteer (if I knew how). I obsess over balance and realism. I even make my own custom altered Earth maps and scenarios because my changes are usually too extensive to repeat every time I start up a game.
