DLC 6 Anticipation Thread

well at the very least it is good to see that there won't as big a wait before the next DLC

How about Nixon ???

I'm very curious as to why people always ask for Nixon; He is the only POTUS that has ever had to resign from office because of what he'd been doing, and he also had things like a secret police and everything, to the point where he spent his full first term secretly working towards being re-elected for his second term by whatever legal or illegal means possible. To me, he always sounds like a deceiving, power-hungry person who didn't really accomplish anything noticable. Not really what you're looking for in a Civilization leader, I'd say.

That is probably why people ask for him. Up until very recently, he was the most famously crooked and awful president known to most people. People probably ask for him as a joke.

I feel like many people seriously want him though.

And let's not get into modern politics...

Hey, here's an idea ---- let's not artificially inflate the post/page count on this thread, trying to lure the publisher/developer into releasing the DLC and accompanying patch (presumably) earlier than they had planned; foregoing proper testing of said patch so that we (the Fanatics) feel like we have some power, and end up with a jumbled, broken mess..... (Yes, I'm a little bitter about the last patch).

I'd bet any money that our absurdly long DLC anticipation thread had precisely zero to do with Firaxis' patching schedule.

The Summer Patch had plenty of time to cook (over four months!), and still released in a shoddy state. Firaxis and Firaxis alone are responsible for it.

If it were the sisters for Vietnam, wouldn't it have to be both? Since they were famous as a duo? Or was one more popular or more discussed than the other one?

Indeed I would prefer that in cases like Byzantium - who do you have Theodora or Justinian? - why not have both of them together, since they ruled as a pair

First of all, my post was VERY sarcastic... sorry if I didn't make that clear enough... and NO, I do NOT want the lying SOAB in CIV...

Basically, it was a response to someone asking about what civ/leader could possibly be linked with a SEA civ... I tought it would be funny to mention that USA/Nixon could be a link (ie Vietnam war)...

Anyways...

The Mac and Linux depots for DLC06 were created earlier this month, unlike the PC depot which was created back in May along with Civ GH and DLC05.

I think we can't say for sure that it is PC only until we see the Mac and Linux depots for DLC06 get tested without Civ GH depots.

Well if Mac/Linux depots do get created, I'm getting hyped for bonus dlc, as I highly doubt the world builder will get ported based on the past games.

It's a decent possibility. It could be like a silver edition with the base game and all DLC so far. They typically do a gold edition after the first expansion with all the DLC and the expansion.

A bundle... and here I said to myself, 'what couldn't I possibly fathom?' I guess I could actually fathom it, but even so, it wasn't something that had even crossed my mind.

If it were the sisters for Vietnam, wouldn't it have to be both? Since they were famous as a duo? Or was one more popular or more discussed than the other one?

It would be neat to see two leaders appearing on one leader screen.

The bundle make sense from a business/product perspective, but from a technical perspective it seems a little overkill to create two independent QA builds for it.

I'm not so sure about that. QA builds probably aren't expensive or hard to make. XCOM 2 seems to make and delete them willy nilly on their Steam DB. If they wanted to QA test an early version of it separate from other things they are QA testing, it makes sense to have a separate set temporarily.

Hoping it's the Khmer! Barays as an Aqueduct replacement would be the coolest thing!

I don't see a European leader coming with the DLC though, you're stuck with England or France for the colonial period which is where you get the most interaction, but Victoria is already in and Napoleon III/3rd Republic seems unlikely. Not enough name recognition.

Well. He certainly fits with the "Big Personality" theme that leaders have been selected with in VI :mischief: ;)

He could be, though in terms of Vietnam, LBJ would be even more appropriate. You could even link Kennedy as the one who first sent non-combat troops into Vietnam.
All big personalities of course :D

I am not fan of Nixon for an American leader, as I think there are plenty of others I'd rather see first.

However, being a good leader doesn't mean they make a good leader.

In fact, this was the issue I took with Amanitore because, from what I could gather, that is all she was just a good leader. She took over a prosperous civilization and ran it effectively. She built a lot but she had the economy to support it, and its not like she built Ludwig style insane building. Nope, just simple effect and good leadership. That actually makes for a pretty crappy leader in Civ. And while being a good leader is harder than it would appear it just doesn't add anything compelling. This would be like making Eisenhower the leader for America. He was a very good leader (and greatly underappreciated as a President) that took over a country that had great prosperity at the time and didn't screw it up (which is much harder than it would seem). He built a lot of infrastructure and left the country well off. Expect he would be a horrible leader in Civ (as a general great, but not as the leader). He has no hook, that je ne sais quoi that is needed for a great leader in the game.

(Also if deceiving and power-hungry were somehow bars on becoming a Civ leader, then there are plenty of leaders, past and present, that should not be in the game)

Trung Trac, the elder sister, was the one actually proclaimed queen; I imagine that if they chose Vietnam and wanted a Trung sister they'd go with her. I could picture two leaders on one screen in Civ5 but not in Civ6. Lady Trieu would also be a plausible alternative.
