Hypothesis: the way the vast majority of Americans experience the electoral college warps the way they think about voting. The fact that votes in most parts of the country functionally don't matter leads many people to apparently see their vote as a declaration of undying cosmic loyalty to a candidate rather than a way to contribute to a material outcome in the real world.

They're sort of right, this is what I was getting at @Sommerswerd when i said i wouldn't vote for Biden in DC since it's a blue state anyway, but I rarely see people distinguish between the logic of voting in a safely blue or red state vs one that can actually affect the outcome.

So Trump is claiming he will lower prices when he becomes President. That seems to be some sort of islamofascisocialicommunism rather than good ole American free market capitalism.

Trump’s financial disclosure shows millions made from licensing deals but costly civil judgments

Donald Trump’s latest financial disclosure documents released Thursday show he made millions from licensing deals and book royalties capitalizing on his fame, alongside significant civil judgements against the former president in New York.

The disclosure, which totaled more than 250 pages, offers a window into the president’s extensive finances, including everything from his real estate business to his investments, income and debts. The release from the Federal Election Commission marks the first public update of his finances in a year.

The documents are a reminder of Trump’s business interests all across the globe – including dozens of registered trademarks in China as well as ones in Saudi Arabia, Iran, Ukraine and Israel, among many others. It also reveals tidbits about how the president keeps his fortune, from millions of dollars’ worth of cryptocurrency to a six-figure investment in gold bars.

Trump has consistently bucked the tradition among major party candidates of releasing his tax returns to the public, and the financial disclosure reports offer an incomplete picture because filers are only required to disclose income and assets in broad ranges.
CNN has reached out to the Trump campaign for comment.

The bidding for the presidency is wide open now. Harris has unloaded:

The most striking proposals were for the elimination of medical debt for millions of Americans; the “first-ever” ban on price gouging for groceries and food; a cap on prescription drug costs; a $25,000 subsidy for first-time home buyers; and a child tax credit that would provide $6,000 per child to families for the first year of a baby’s life.
This is a glimpse of "unburdened by what has been". Creators will flee America in droves, if there are any capitalist countries left to go to, once this sort of thing gets a grip. There are only two ways to sustain spending of this magnitude, grievous taxation and money creation, and neither is sustainable. Any life savings that the middle class has managed to scrape together and hold on to will be vaporized by these actions right off the pier.

Harris is touting all sorts of cost controls from grocery items to rent and the cost of new housing. Price controls will collapse the markets for all items. These kinds of polices have been tried ad nauseum in failed communist countries.

The thing that is most clear about Harris is that she is indeed totally unburdened by any knowledge of all of the things that the socialist minded have attempted in the past and ignorant of all of the dreadful carnage it caused in the populations of those countries.

And Trump will shamelessly get into a bidding war with her (who can promise the most free stuff!) without a clue as to the ramifications to the economic stability of the country. Vance proposed the child cap be raised to $5,000 prior to Harris's counter raise. With months to go we still have time for universal basic income, wait, universal deluxe income, free housing, free ugly cybertrucks, an eight-hour workweek, guaranteed jobs, free lifetime supply of coconut oil and a fully employer funded 401k with, of course, a prohibition on stocks going down in value. Yippee-Ki-Yay, suckers.

Yall are sounding heavier and heavier, lol.

not sure where to start here. you're talking about a lot of different things. there's a claim about an endgoal of policy which is basically europe lite (which works per, like, y'know, europe), there's a claim about policy of debt relief (which costs money indeed, but overall saves money), there's an issue of simple capitalist price regulation that you equate to communism (???), and there's a reducto ad absurdium about a gift betting war which, mind you, trump and the reps will never match, since it's not their f'ing policy. and mindedly, those are different arguments (just by the count i have tried to isolate here: whether social democratic liberalism works or not, whether debt relief works or not, whether it's communist (lol), and whether the rhetoric will pile up free gifts from the reps) tossed up all in one salad.

From what I'm seeing hearing on the news, Trump's campaign and surrogates are now vacillating between accusing Harris of changing her stances to copy Trump's policy proposals and calling Harris a communist/socialist.

Its bizarre and doesn't make sense. They can't have it both ways. Either call her a copycat, flip-flopper, whatever... or call her a communist. Pick a lane.

Killers gonna paranoid whine.

There's a lot of mirrors in the world. It'd make me paranoid, too.
The Killers is a good band. Much better sounding than this bleating.

Trump is too wide to occupy one lane. Nor can he drive between the lines.

Nothing to see here, move along.

A new audit released last month from the U.S. Postal Service’s Office of the Inspector General confirmed that many USPS facilities are failing to follow proper Election Mail procedures. These USPS service problems threaten the security of votes cast by mail in the upcoming election.

The truth is that the system is so screwed up that both parties could cheat like the dickens and in the end the election could swing based on some simple unintentional handling error, in the mail or in the digital tabulation. It's really just chance.

Gosh, i'm gonna have to make some phone calls, Biden is getting sloppy letting the Inspector General reveal the conspiracy

I read the full article. Its all about a few mail in ballots could be missed, if someone waits until the last possible time to mail in their ballot.

The solution is not to take the 'trump' route and ban (or refuse to count) all mail-in ballots.

So what you're saying is that she's better for capitalism, and the nation's fiscal future, than any Republican since Ford?

EXCLUSIVE and BREAKING: During a Donald Trump visit to North Carolina yesterday, a woman Secret Service special agent abandoned her post to breastfeed with no permission/warning to the event site agent, according to three sources in the Secret Service community.Shortly before Trump's motorcade arrival -- I'm told five minutes beforehand -- the site agent was getting ready for the arrival. (The site agent is the person in charge of the entire event's security.)The site agent went to do one final sweep of the walking route and found the agent breast-feeding her child in a room that is supposed to be set aside for important Secret Service official work, i.e. a potential emergency related to the president.A working agent on duty cannot bring a child to a protective assignment. The woman was out of the Atlanta Field Office. The woman agent was in the room with two other family members. The agent and her family members bypassed the Uniformed Division checkpoint and were escorted by an unpinned event staff into the room to breastfeed, the sources said. Unpinned means they have not been cleared by the Secret Service to be there. When contacted about the incident, Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said the incident did not have an impact on the event. and it's under review. "All employees of the U.S. Secret Service are held to the highest standards," he said. "While there was no impact to the North Carolina event, the specifics of this incident are being examined. Given this is a personnel matter, we are not in a position to comment further."

Hey CI, she was following GOP instructions to have babies and take care of them to the detriment of all else. Babies are more important than your work. Project 2025 would approve. And she made sure that she fed her baby in private so no one could possibly see her nipples. :p

They're sort of right, this is what I was getting at @Sommerswerd when i said i wouldn't vote for Biden in DC since it's a blue state anyway, but I rarely see people distinguish between the logic of voting in a safely blue or red state vs one that can actually affect the outcome.
You may overestimate with "vast majority", but it does describe a substantial minority. Maybe a majority in California or New York, but I dunno if that's a particularly common view in red states. I can't ever recall reading "my vote doesn't matter because I live in Arkansas". Substitute in NY and CA, those comments I've read frequently over the years. Maybe a blue state thing?

My informal estimate is maybe 50/60% go with whichever party best aligns with their moral values, usually determined by the extent to which they favor traditional beliefs/values or extent they don't, and make little to no consideration of material concerns.

It may take a certain sort of nihilism where one is the end of history to really think that way.

When dealing with middle aged bougeboys?
