Sure, beyond certain points it really doesn't matter all that much. But that's not the same thing as saying it has no information value at all.

I'm in agreement w/ that. I didn't say PC has no information value. I think it has limited value that has an extremely high rate of diminishing return.

This forum is largely (primarily?) here because of the outcry for less moderation/a place to be able to give each other more s**t w/out fear of infractions, etc...

So, now that we have it and people (including those who happen to be moderators) use the freedom that is now given, its "OMG HOW DARE YOU!"

its one thing to be more relaxed in normal topics, but in a topic to discuss an admin decision you are representing the administration, therefore its a tad different in many people's eyes, especially when its an unpopular decision. Now if this were a topic on anything else and someone got butthurt over you being a bit snarky it would be a bit different and your point would stand IMO.

Either you include all forums in which case post count becomes more a measure of participation in forum games rather than the community as a whole (I imagine though I may be overestimating the volume of posts in FG) or you select specific forums to include (as we do now) in which case it becomes a somewhat arbitrary measure.

Post count should be a measure of how many posts you've made, period, for record-keeping, NOT a prestige thing, and thus should include every post (Probably not including the staff forums since we can't search them, but what do I care?)

If you want to, in order to make it NOT a prestige thing, put it in the profile and not immediately visible, fine. If you then want to make a postcount that's more of a prestige thing, doesn't count all threads, and is visible under your avatar, fine, but I'd like to genuinely know how many times I've posted here.

No. in a thread discussing a rather big change by the admins, moderators are always officials, the voice of the state. You are no longer an ordinary forum poster.

With few exceptions, people were asking for slight modifications to the old OT, not to have it torn down and replaced with this. It's like we asked for a slice of apple pie, and you gave us an entire banana cream pie. And then threw it in our collective faces and laughed about it. And when the outcry comes, you say "but you wanted pie!"

Why do you lot keep mistaking "this is actually an acceptable idea, with a few caveats, these are them, fix it and you're golden," with "OMG THIS IS THE WORST THING EVAR!!!". Because few people are saying the latter, and quite a few people are saying some variation of the former. You guys need to learn to take constructive criticism better.
