How rich is your area?

Key stats for Galway county as provided by the CSO.
I might look for a tidier break down of incomes tonight as this doesn't split the city (generally well off) from the county (bog)

Take on its own its rather misleading. We earn more money. We also pay a more for goods and services. Taken holistically it ranks about the same as any upper middle class area (and even that is misleading gentrification hasn't made all that much headway in some areas).

Andover, Massachusetts:

Median household income: $102,762
Median family income: $131,469

No taxes on necessities like food and clothing, and it's a wealthy area in general.

From wikipoodia:

According to a 2007 estimate, the median income for a household in the city was $72,315, and the median income for a family was $88,205.

From my leasing agent at the building we live in:

The median yearly income for the families in the apartments at my building is $150k. I'm far below that amount.

I live in one of the poorest areas in the UK.

It doesnt have any info on wikipedia though, but from one random website
5. Sunderland
Average income per year: £18,800
Average income tax paid per year: £2,720

5th poorest city apparently, doesnt say if its family income or what but at least were better then Middlesborough

I live quite near here, with values near the same.

The county (Middlesex) is wealthy, with a cost of living that is better than you would expect. Also, the average education for the area is extraordinarily high. It's quite a nice place to live. Although my family can't quite afford it, it has been good to us.

The median income for a household in the county was $29,260, and the median income for a family was $34,503. Males had a median income of $25,071 versus $17,126 for females. The per capita income for the county was $16,568. About 16.50% of families and 21.40% of the population were below the poverty line.

We are poor over here... (this is in the US)

Oh, this may be significant: 96.47% White, 0.21% Black.

Loudoun County (pronounced /ˈlaʊdən/ "LOUD-un") is a county located in the Commonwealth of Virginia, and is part of the Washington Metropolitan Area. As of July 1, 2008, the county is estimated to be home to 289,995 people, a 71 percent increase over the 2000 figure of 169,599. That increase makes the county the fourth fastest-growing in the United States during that period......

In August 2008, Census survey data concluded that Loudoun County has the highest median income in the country at just over $107,000. A 2007 estimate indicated that the median income for a household was $104,612, and the median income for a family was $125,381.

$39,804 in my neighborhood. (Mostly Asians, with a mix of Hispanics and some Caucasians on the outer edges)

Borough: The median income for a household in the county was $37,439, and the median income for a family was $42,608. Males had a median income of $30,576 versus $26,628 for females. The per capita income for the county was $19,222. About 16.9% of families and 21.6% of the population were below the poverty line, including 18.8% of those under age 18 and 13.0% of those age 65 or over.

Apparently, blacks earn slightly more than whites in my borough.

Yep, north of Boston is a great place to live, plus NH is just across the border. We're in the process of moving to the south, where we're astounded that even though people on average make much less, the cost of food, clothing and other necessities is much more and there's a 7% tax on everything, including necessities.

San Francisco ranks third of American cities in median household income[119] with a 2007 value of $65,519.[116] Median family income is $81,136,[116] and San Francisco ranks 8th of major cities worldwide in the number of billionaires known to be living within city limits.[120]

Following a national trend, an out-migration of middle class families is contributing to widening income disparity[71] and has left the city with a lower proportion of children, 14.5 percent, than any other large American city.[121]

The city's poverty rate, at 7.7 percent, is lower than the national average and among the lowest for cities ranked by the U.S. Census Bureau.[122]

Homelessness has been a chronic and controversial problem for San Francisco since the early 1980s. The city is believed to have the highest number of homeless inhabitants per capita of any major U.S. city.[123][124]

San Francisco's rates of violent and property crime, reported for 2006 as 875 and 4,958 incidents per 100,000 residents respectively,[125] are higher than the national average.[126]

Something I found interesting that I didn't know about SF, the % of residents not born in the US is almost the same (2% difference) than the % of residents born in California.

The median income for a household in the city was $44,108, and the median income for a family was $55,241. Males had a median income of $40,031 versus $28,279 for females. The per capita income for the city was $21,978. About 5.6% of families and 7.3% of the population were below the poverty line, including 8.6% of those under age 18 and 8.5% of those age 65 or over.

Rhode Island overall:

Its 2000 per capita personal income was $29,685, 16th in the nation.

I can't find data for my city, but the UK GNP is $43,785 or about £30000 a year, although I get a lot less than that (not that I care)

Lake Mary

The median income for a household in the city was $69,485, and the median income for a family was $76,859. Males had a median income of $57,132 versus $32,439 for females. The per capita income for the city was $31,094. 2.9% of the population and 2.5% of families were below the poverty line. 1.8% of those under the age of 18 and 3.6% of those 65 and older were living below the poverty line.

Fairly good for Florida <_<
