IMPORTANT: New Admins, Senior Moderators, and more

I for one welcome our new insect overlords.

What's got me even more puzzled is figuring out who are going to be the new "NCO" mods, but especially for OT; we can be a pretty rowdy bunch.

Lefty is ... Lefty.

He is almost, but not quite, a law unto himself. He sees all, he knows all, he laughs at our crude attempts to emulate him. Yet, he is always there to help us pull our fat out of the fire, or, at least, point out what we did wrong.

There is a reason he is "Moderatus Illuminatus"

So does this now mean that moderators can only do their work in their own sections, or continue to mod anywhere and everywhere, like what was happening before? Obviously this is just a first phase of making that site better, due to the much larger size that it has become. It will be interesting to see how many more mods are coming.

Grats Padma (you old fool :P) and ainwood!

@Thunderfall; I see you still use the christmas avatar I made for you. I'm honored! :)
EDIT: Could I get some more space for my avatar, pretty please? Please please please! :p

Grats to all the now Senior Moderators too ;)

I am wondering if it is possible to have temp moderators so for things such as the various MTDG teams and the relevant forum, so that there can be quick changes made in the relevant forums.

I think that makes Lefty the "highly paid recently-civilian consultant"

Is moderating a website really that hard? :p
Having done so before, the moderation itself isn't hard, it's the amount of moderating a site this size requires.

Congratulations to the new Administrators!

Just to continue speculation on the possible coup, I'm gonna pull a Ludendorff and guess that by the end of the week we shall have no admins and no forum :p

Moderating is not hard, per se. Probably the hardest part is simply putting personal biases aside, and doing what is right for the site. The volume can get one down, though. When I joined this site, we had just over 7000 members. We now have more than 20 times that number, yet the increase in mods has been negligible.

The sheer size of the site is what led us to internal discussions about numbers and types of mods (and admins). Nearly all the current mods are now, or soon will be, Senior Moderators, with global powers. As new mods are brought on board, they will be mentored, and taught how we want things done, so they can eventually step into Senior roles.

It is possible that there will occasionally be some "mini-mods", with reduced/restricted powers and authority, to help with specific tasks, such as the MTDG forums.

I seem to be the cause of most of the controversy in OT, but at least it keeps the mods busy! :D

Ummm, no. But don't take that as an invitation or a challenge. ;)
