Minister for Trade Report to Parliament
The Minister for Trade is pleased to report that the Free-Trading environment setup by the Parliament of Sweden for the Scandinavian Union has been very successful. Advertising our trade goods in the various letters to embassies have worked.
The Ports
The Ports of Bergen, Oslo, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Malmo and Gothenburg are all flourishing with this new trade.
The Trading Partners
The new trading partners; Nuovo Milan, British, Kongola, Singapore, Istanbul, Chinese, U.N.S.A., Prussia, Venediciya, Wagadou, Muscovy, Portugal, Turks, Hedjaz, Yugoslav, Vijayanagara, Pyrenees, Gonder, Korea are all free to send their ships to our ports, so long as they are flying their respective nations flags. The Papal States is the only nation that has rejected our trade goods, so its ships are not permitted to land at our ports.
UPDATE: France has now also rejected our trading goods.
Exports
Norways Wood, Swedens Iron Ore and Copper and Danish Fish have all being well received in many nations of the world. The landowners of Norway and Sweden, who are mainly Monarchists, are making large fortunes from these exports of wood, iron ore and copper. The Danish fishermen, who are mainly Lantmannas, are also doing very well. There seems to be lots of work available for woodsmen, miners and fishermen, many of whom are Democrats are pleased with the increased work available and wages offered.
Imports
The letters to the various embassies have in most cases being reciprocated with offers of additional imports. The merchants, who are mainly Republicans, are doing very well with having new goods to sell to the people. These goods include; Rubber, Tropical Fruits, Tropical Fish, Tea, Opium, Cotton cloth, Furs, Whale Oil, Coffee, Bananas, Gold, Ivory, Salt, Oranges, Wool,Pottery, Silk and many unspecified new goods.
Summary
The increased trade in goods has brought prosperity to all sectors of society (Monarchists, Democrats, Republicans and even the Lantmannas) and the people are feeling very happy, even though they still harbour slight concerns about the effects of war in other nations may have on them. They hope the Scandinavian Union's Neutrality position will avoid war here.
