Is it a good idea to intentionally fail your senior year of high school?

Is that a good idea?

I think that would qualify for the label "underachiever"

Is it realy that great to become top dog in high school for a year?

On the other hand, some kids benefit a lot from waiting a year before going to college (or whatewer they are doing newt). I was one of them :)

You're friends did that?

Well, I took a year off college because I needed more money. I was 'lucky' enough to get a job that required us to log out time in 15 minute intervals and the hours were from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm. It was also intellectual work.

After getting used to working hard for 8 hours each day, college was really easy. If you put in a hard 8 hours every day, you should do fine.

My friends, though, slacked off their grade 12 year and didn't complete all their courses. They 'repeated' 12, but only to finish courses they hadn't taken. They never made it anywhere, and were always poor and unintellectual.

Only for teenage girls living in Canada; I wouldn't recommed this to an American, our school systems work differently

How did you know I sort of got my idea from Twilight?

Well it would pretty much ruin any college prospects and super seniors aren't really looked up to at the high school level. Though I imagine anyone that would seriously consider this doesn't really have a shot at passing anyway. If you've just got the blues and are worried about the transition out of high school then talk to a counselor or something.

That's a better idea. Sorry, I guess I just kind of like how my life is going now and am very reluctant to accept change.

It is my goal in life to never watch this Twilight movie. Hopefully I can manage this. I take it this idea is from that movie/book?

I suppose some people's lives are the best when they are in high school. Generally these people are losers and know they will never amount to anything in the real world.

One thing I find fascinating (and irritating) about american culture is how the group with the least amount of wealth and power gets to dictate what is cool or not. That seems strange to me. How is it all movies and entertainment is geared towards them?

It's not. But everyone else in society tends to agree that having a lot of money is a cool thing, even if it does not make you cool for having it.

This is perhaps one of the worst plans I have ever heard.

That idea is just completely stupid and shows how short-sighted many kids are.
No it doesn't. It was one manic kid on a mad posting spree writing every thought he has in the off topic section. I don't know anyone who has every done this, or even talked about it.

Which is a funny coincidence because I actually did repeat my senior year. But it was a tactical maneuver to pit my circumstances against my strengths, to achieve college admission to prestigious schools without getting bogged down in community college (which for me would have been a big failure... I'd probably still be trying to transfer). So I had a good, forward thinking reason to repeat my senior year and it worked. I would not recommend it for someone who is thinking backward, trying to hold on to the past.

It's not that he wants to repeat. As you said, if repeating a year is useful to you, then just do it (I did it too). The problem here is that he wants to repeat...

BECAUSE HE GOT THAT IDEA FROM THE TWILIGHT VAMPIRES!!!
