Would you support such an amendment to the US Constitution?

Would you support an amendment to the US Constitution mandating that all airplane seats (sans business class and first class) disable the ability to lean back the chair, and thus are required to maintain the upright position?

I'm fairly tall (~ 6'1" or ~185 cm), and it drives me crazy when the idiot sitting in front of me decides to lean his chair back the WHOLE DAMN WAY, leaving me with no leg, arm, or face room.

I haven't been on an airplane since they started posting Nazis at the airport gates and with God's help I hope I never will have to.

Drat those 16-18 hour car drives though.

You could've politely asked them to sit up for a bit. Did you take an international or overseas flight? Because within the US flights aren't long enough to make discomfort a big deal.

Maybe you should find an aeroplane carrier that has sits that recline instead of trying to expand the size of the gubbermint, this is just typical lieberal tactics.

Check in early and get the emergency row. I'm six foot two and I always do this, some airlines let you book it in advance for a small fee.

I never understood why that wasn't in the Bill of Rights anyway.

I thought of a new invention. A kind of specially designed wedge to prevent airplane seats from reclining. You use it on the seat in front of you during take off.

Me neither.

Just don't fly. The world is pretty much the same all over. At least from all the reports I've heard.

It's not fair on the environment either. Though I don't suppose that carries much weight with people.

Yes yes yes by all means. Rewrite that bloody Constitution. It's long overdue.

The only amendment that I would support is one that repeals the Seventeenth Amendment. Senators were never meant to be directly elected and kinda makes them pointless when compared to House members.

There's Biblical precedent:

And the Lord said unto me, "They have well spoken that which they have spoken".

"I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him. And he will not recline his seat all the way back, nay, and neither will anyone else."

Deuteronomy 18:17

No reclining on a fourteen hour flight? No thanks. On all airlines with which I've travelled, you can't recline your seat during take off, landing, or meal times. It's not like you can recline your seat back that far anyway, and you can reclaim whatever small room you've lost by reclining yourself.

Trains are where it's at.

Who cares about original intent? All those people are dead.

Flying is really the worst way to travel. I wish I lived in an era where it was practical to travel by ship. Now that was the way to live provided you weren't in steerage.

/Agreed. You get to kickback, no stress and relax - read a book, watch a movie on yer laptop, or play a game. Go to sleep. If you need to take a dump you aren't restricted to "seatbelt sign" times. If you get peckish, a woman comes round with a large unit with food and drink and you can get yerself a beer!

Plus, you can get to the station at 12:55 and be on board and leaving by 13:05! Cannot do that with a plane ;)

Trains I love'em :P

That's odd, I'm exactly as tall and my parents keep calling me 'little'. Annoys me to no end.
