NOTW L: The Immortals [Game Thread]

War with the Sheaim will bring damnation to us all. Seon has admitted that he wishes for such an event, I strongly beleive that he has the ability to sabotage Calabim / Sheaim relations. I am unsure whether he is also a demon or something else, but I know for a fact that this ability is a dangerous one and that it alone is worthy of his demise.

"He has other, very interesting abilities as well." ;)

"I am a very poor identifier of what Mana can be used for. Seon is in possession of a kind of exotic mana which has a very nifty ability which is quite powerful for a slave boy bloodpet. Certainly far more powerful than anything I could remotely begin to conjure, even with mana I am familiar with.

What I require is someone who is an expert on identifying mana. I want Seon to show you that mana, so you can identify it and describe its purpose.

Is there someone in this council who considers himself an expert on these matters?"

National Diplomacy

Sheaim state is ’Hostile’
Ljosalfar state is 'Friendly'
Amurite state is ’Neutral’

"I have some distressing news for whoever committed the act which caused Sheaim relations to take such a horrendous nosedive.

Sheaim-Calabim relations are about to be restored back where they belong, due to that whole thing with the Entropy Mana which I was just speaking of yesterday. Looks like you just blew your whole diplomatic-sabotage ability wad, and for naught! Does that displease you? Let me know in a strongly-worded letter of complaint. Or perhaps, daggers thrown in my direction. I want to know how much you care."

Verarde, King Morgan and Backwards Logic are my primary suspects right now. For BL, its simply that the wagon on berubeg took of so fast after TLD voted for him, so it might have been a ploy to save BL. For Verarde, it is Pizzaguy's case, coupled with the fact that he has been arriving late in the day, voting on bandwagons, and generally uninformative. I will post more on this when I have time. King Morgan, I still want an explanation as to why you wanted mind mana (in private, if you wish), especially since it is certain that you have a fire affinity, and you also asked for raw mana, indicating either an affinity towards it, or an ability to convert it (the former of which makes your mind mana request strange, the later is uncharacteristic of a bowman)

* After TLD's vote on Backwards Logic, which made BL a serious lynch candidate

"I note, Ljolsalfar Ambassador, that even someone who is not skilled in the ways of magic can convert raw mana to another kind of mana, if they are already in possession of that mana type.

I leave King Morgan to explain himself to you, but this much, I am personally aware of, being rather limited in magical ability myself.

Addendum: I also don't believe 'Raw Mana' is actually useful in any way and I doubt that anyone has an affinity for it. It is primarily used to be turned into useful mana types. A blank slate, if you will.

Someone correct me if my guess is wrong."

I regard myself an expert on orbs but I'm beginning to feel depressed about the matter really. I have a list of 14 of the manas that exist but the purpose of only four of them as no one wants to show manas to me and I haven't gained a single orb by voting so far.

"Why have you not approached me sooner, kind Governor?

The solution to your problem is obvious, and simple.

Attention Council Members:

If you have a type of mana that you feel comfortable revealing to The Luentinum Governor, for cataloging and identification purposes, all you have to do is *show* the mana in question to The Black Knigh. Send King Exar (Sprig) a message. Your mana will not leave your hands, it will simply be identified.

If you wish to keep your mana hidden, then don't participate. Easy enough to protect our most vital assets this way.

I also request that Seon IMMEDIATELY shows his Chaos Mana to The Black Knigh for identification, if he wishes to maintain his innocence.

Any questions or concerns about this?"

I would like the meta magic mana because I can use it for things I told Pizza privately.

As an adept, you could show me mana, whether or not I can see what it does I don't know but I am able to use mana.

"Can you tell me more about what an 'adept' is, and what talents they possess? My Lore is not as strong as it could be."

"Thanks.

You and KM and TBK are now my resident experts on magic. I am trusting your expertise to guide us with regards to important matters of state. When you're a leader, often times you do not personally possess all the needed knowledge to execute a plan of action, and must rely on trusted advisers.

Would that we had our Amurite Wizard, but the gods have cursed us with no full Wizard during this crisis. We must make do with what we have."

"I have a claimant for the Sun Mana now. I am unsure if I should just vote it directly to them, as whoever is in possession of the Sun mana will likely be targeted by the Demon."

"So the Calabim Vampires did not target the Sheaim delegation last night. From what I've been able to piece together, there was no event last night which could have caused Sheaim-Calabim relations to deteriorate so quickly. Someone has used a special ability against the Sheaim, and the person who has a stated motive for doing so is Seon.

It seems clear that Seon is a traitor to his own people, or he considers himself a patriot on a mission, but the result is the same.

Now, he has been recently threatened with death so it makes sense he is prompted to use his special power before he dies.

The question is, fellow council members:

Is he a demon, usurper, third party nasty, or just someone who is very dedicated (and skilled) at accomplishing his secondary objective?

I have my reasons for discounting the demon theory.

However, he can easily be a usurper, hidden third party with incompatible goals as the rest of us, or he could be "innocent" as far as innocents go, but with a very powerful arsenal at his disposal to accomplish his secondary objective.

A demon wouldn't really need to cause a war, and especially wouldn't out himself thusly over a secondary objective.

A Usurper, here's a strong possibility I cannot discount.

Hidden Third Party, would explain his powerful abilities.

I cannot completely eliminate the possibility that he has the innocent primary goal, but I don't think the rest of us are as well-equipped as he.

  • Firstly, his role as a servant bloodpet, allows him to survive vampiric vigilantism and have a plausible excuse for never dying. None of us require a cover to do our secondary tasks. Guilty persons would need a cover.
  • Secondly, his ability to stop a lynch on himself. Either a bluff, or he's got the goods to live long enough to execute his power. That is far more impressive an ability than I bet most of us have.
  • Thirdly, his claimed ability to cast spells even with a single orb of mana.

That's not possible in my experience, but then again, I'm not a master spellcaster.

In any case, Seon is a very interesting fellow.

I feel if we focus all our attention on him, we will lose track of hunting Demons. But at the same time, all of this must be discussed in open council.

Is he a threat to us? Signs point to yes.

Is he a Demon? Signs point to no.

Is he a Usurper? This is quite possible.

What do my fellow Councilmen think? How do we deal with Seon?

If he can survive a lynch, lynching him today will just waste our time.

He also seems to have the innate ability to survive ordinary vampire feedings without taking damage. As such, vampire vigilantism will not destroy him quickly.

If he's innocent, I would propose he hands over his Chaos Orb, thus giving the council the option to remove him via the lynch if we choose.

If he's not, there's no way he agrees to such a condition."

"By the way, I'm not a master spellcaster, but a lowly servant bloodpet should definitely not be."

There are actually spells that can be performed with only one orb. I'm not speaking for or against Seon, only informing you that it is the case.

"Other than conversion of Raw Mana?

This is very important information I was not aware of. Thank you once again for your expertise, TBK.

By the way, is it just me, or am I the most talkative member of this Council by far?

I hope we are not all so caught up in accomplishing our secondary goals that we are purposefully neglecting our first?

Because if I am to lead a group of people who don't wish to be led, I can step down right now and not exert myself so much. I promise you, I have other things I can be doing with my time.

My sense of duty is legendary, but I have recently exhausted myself several times in assistance of a group of innocent people who did not wish to be led and did not care to put their best effort forward, and with my failing health, I'm not going to put myself out there without a team supporting me, I promise you this much. You can take these words to the bank.

I appreciate the support I've been given, but sometimes I feel like others are speaking up once or twice a day, not even trying.

Let me know if my efforts are just an annoyance you would rather do without. I can take a hint."

"I should point out that I have made almost no effort whatsoever in accomplishing my secondary task, because I'm primarily focused on our primary task. If that's not what this Council is about, I can just go do my secondary goal, selfishly, and be done with it.

After that, if the Demons want to take over the world, I'll have accomplished my thing. Just feels like a total abandonment of my sworn duty to protect King Exar. Not a true victory, in my opinion."

GM Comment:

There was a mistake on the Day Four update.

The Sheaim and Amurite Diplomacy state was inadvertently switched around. This has been fixed.
Amurite has gone from 'Friendly' to 'neutral'
Sheaim has gone from 'Guarded'' to 'Hostile'

I apologise for the confusion.
