1.) What happens when you place a district or wonder on a tile that has a strategic resource that has not been revealed yet? i.e. you place a district on a tile in the classical era, and there was going to be coal there later? lose the resource? relocated nearby? have access but lose tile yield?

The strategic resource is connected to your trading network (when you research the relevant tech) and can be traded or used to build units that require that resource. You do not get any tile yields from the resource tile on which the district is located (just as you get no tile yields from any other district tile).

2.) PLEASE tell me there is a way to control which city states spawn on a map. Some of them have game-changing effects, others are so mundane in comparison and either way, having multiple trade CS's is one of the most powerful foundations for a great economy. If not, is this something that a modder could do? am I alone in wanting to be able to do this?

There is no game set-up option or other in-game way to control that, but perhaps modders can provide a solution. You might check in the Civ 6 - Creation & Customization forum.

When do Great People of an era disappear? I'm still in the Classical era and after recruiting the first Great Writer Ovid, Homer, Qu Yuan and Bhasa were simply skipped and Murasaki Shikibu was next in line. These three were not recruited by anyone else, they simply became unavailable.
Noticed the same with Great Merchants and Great Admirals. I recruit the first one in the Classical era, the other ones are skipped and it continues with one from the Medieval era.

After you recruit a certain Great Person (in your case, a Writer), the game calculates the average era of the world, and then skip all Great People from previous eras. In you game, everyone probably already were in Medieval Era when you recruited Ovid.

How the game calculates that average era is still a mystery to me, but I suspect it has something to do with those leader icons in the tech/civic trees. If anyone can clarify that for me, I'd be glad.

Thanks for the answer.
I met 4 of I think 10 total civilizations and was slightly ahead of them. 3 (England, Norway, Kongo) had just reached the Classical era and America entered it shortly after me. I'm pretty sure that no other civilization has reached the Medieval era, as I've been able to recruit the first two Great Scientists (so I should have more Campus districts and thus more science - I'm playing on Prince by the way, so no AI bonuses. I also have two scientific city states on my island). But at this point both America and I are on the "second half" of the Classical era in the tech/civic tree when it comes to icons (so around the Shipbuilding tech/Military Training civic). Maybe once you've reached that point, the game advances you with regard to the average era to the next (since you could technically reach it through beelining)?

It's really weird. Seems like you have to patronage a few of the early ones if you really want none of them to be skipped. But that average era thing makes sense.

Hello guys, I would like to ask you a question. Me and my GF play a hotseat, we are completly new to civ games. Unfortunately we declared friendship in the game not realising it will prevent us from fighting each other later in the game. My questions are: 1.) How long will the firendship last? is it 30 turns, 50? is it even time limited? 2.) Also, is there somewhere in the game a number, which tells me for how long the peace between us will remain? (I dont remember when exactly we didi declare it) I would like to see how many turn untill we can have a war again. 3.) Finally, is there an option to change the state of friendhorsehocky in that game? I mean, even outside the game, like changing some game files or something, so that i could overrite a file to change diplomacy. I feel so lost it kind of screwed our game plan.

Thank You a lot

What does the 1/2 signify in this snip? I thought it was perhaps a count of district buildings i.e. you'd built 1 of 2 possible but that doesn't seem to be the case. Been bugging me for a few days.

Is it possible to switch from a hotseat game to an internet/lan game? I mean loading it the way it can be played on 2 computers at once rather than on 1 computer as a hotseat game is played.

It means the district on that tile has buildings with a total of two specialist slots, and that you have a citizen assigned to work one of those specialist slots.

If I want to post screenshots that (I think) are funny, where do I post them?

Hello. I've just installed Civ VI (thesis writing, postponed it as much as I could) and I cannot find a quick way to locate strategic (or any other) resources on map. Is there a hidden filter somewhere? Is it hidden in plain sight? Am I blind because of looking at research papers all day? Thanks in advance :))

Not sure what you are asking assos (but finish that thesis LOL)
The only way to locate resources is to scan the map. You can use the map pins sometimes to pin important resources that you want to remember is there

Maybe the icons are disabled. Right above the minimap, there are some buttons. Click on the second one (left to right) and a "Show Resource" option should appear. See if it helps.

You can also switch to Strategic View -- you may find it easier to scan the map for resources.

Thanks all, will do the pinning in the next game, I think the map is too crowded now :)

Why can't I 'heal' my ironclad... even when in home port. I'm playing as England ?

Thanks?

Did you get the Ironclad from retiring the Great Admiral Yi Sun-Sin, but haven't yet researched Steam Power (the tech that unlocks Ironclads)? You can't repair the Ironclad until you tech Steam Power. You also cannot repair any strategic-resource-requiring unit if you don't have at least one copy of that resource (coal, in the case of Ironclads).

OK... that makes sense.. thank you. (and yes I did get it from retiring an Admiral)
cheers
