So far I've only used battering rams and never a siege tower. Question is: if you use the siege tower, does the conquered city get to keep its walls and fortifications?

Ranged units don't exert ZOC ?

It should still be a siege because they do count for their own tile. However, I have noticed that sometimes the icon doesn't appear straight away even if it's a siege, so that may be the case.

Re siege tower: Pretty sure it doesn't. It's basically a stronger version of the battering ram.

Maybe (but I hope I'm wrong here) it considers you as not having ZoC over the mountain and therefore doesn't make it a siege.

Hmm. Just tested the siege tower. I was playing the viking scenario so I'm not sure if the values are the same, but in my case the siege tower removed exactly half as much HP from the city as the battering ram did from the walls. So even though the siege tower does cause direct damage to the city itself, in the case of well fortified cities it will take a long time to grind that health pool down. Meanwhile the city will bombard you very hard every turn and you will typically lose some troops if enemy have also units around and not only the city alone. The battering ram however, takes down the walls really quickly and then the city is harmless - it becomes much of a non-issue that the health pool itself will still take a while to bring down.

Synopsis: I don't know if things work the same way in the normal game, but based on my experience from the Vikings scenario, the battering ram is about twice as efficient as the siege tower. (Possibly also depending on the relation between attacking troops' strength and the defending city strength).

You might also need a tech which lets you build them (siege tactics or something).

Pretty sure the tech where they come available is the tech that unlocks the military engineer. They should have a build tooltip just like a builder does, where you should be able to select it on any unimproved tile. I believe it doesn't even need to be in your own territory. My advice, however, is to just research the tech without getting the boost, as military engineers just aren't really worth it, even considering you get a eureka from it.

You're actually wrong. Engineer comes with Military Engineering (a tech which uncovers niter in the latest version), but the fort comes with Siege Tactics, as I said...

You're right, however, about 'screw this eureka and forts and military engineers all together'.

Hm... That does make me wonder why you can already build them, in that case. I mean, if you're building one for two tiles of road you should probably reassess your priorities...

Can you complete the Trans-Siberian Railroad achievement with Harbors/Ocean in between the capital and the target city that is 60 hexes away (I am thinking to end the route with Harbor, land tile with road, target city)

They don't heal. It's a bug, the button shouldn't be there.

Like the bug where 2 movement units get 'lost' in the jungle if you forget about them.

Thx for the answers mates:)
Ok! So..right now prince diffculty its to easy for me.
Wanna risk myself at king or emperor.
What decent game settings u recomand? For a little warm up lets say:)
Ii was thinking at a duel/domination victory/normal speed/pangea/or somthing like those.

I'd go for King first if I were you, from Emperor on the AI starts with 2 Settlers, which is a pretty big advantage for them unless you're the kind of player that declares war on them just to take that second settler (in which case it's an advantage for you and Emperor might even be easier than King).

For the rest... Well, what kind of settings do you like? Duel + domination + pangaea is most likely not going to be a very long game, as it means you have to capture only one capital (2 if you add an extra AI in advanced settings) to win the game, but if that's how you prefer playing, then go for it.

Is it possible to delete districts?
I captured some cities with harbors without any bonus and no fish resources from AI and would like to use the district slot for some other district.

Nope, not possible.

I did make a thread in the ideas and suggestions forum a while ago that it should be, though, for a price.

Where is there a guide on just the new things from Civ 5? Oh and maybe a guide to planning cities, it's apparently much more complicated now.
