Yes, that's what I was asking; if GS could emulate R&F by turning off some of its features. Thank you. (it wasn't the answer I was hoping for)

Which is the better game? :)
While you can't completely remove the features of GS, you can tone some down like the disasters to the point that they're pretty negligible. I prefer GS to R&F. The only downside to getting GS instead of R&F is that you'll be missing the civs and wonders, so it really depends on if there are any in R&F that you really want to play and how that compares to GS.

Personally, I'd go for GS. I don't know what your financial situation is, but if they're on sale, I'd consider getting both.

How am I getting iron? I am getting 6 iron per turn. The only two iron sources on the map are in someone else's territory. I am not friends with hattusa. I'm not getting any from trade routes.

The only thing I can think of is that I'm allied with Babylon... do they automatically give you excess if their storage is full or something?

Edit: Nevermind, it's Jebel Barkar. I build Jebel Barkar so rarely that I forgot what it actually does lmao

If both are on sale he might be lucky and get a cheap upgrade to platinum (everything but NFP) as well.

GS is definitely a better game than R&F imo.

I was planning to wait until the complete game is available for $15 or $20 and get that -- probably in another year or so. This sale was good enough I thought I'd get one of the expansion packs. Was going to order GS last night and the sale had ended (I thought it had another day or two) I'll add them to my wish list and Gamersgate will email me when they go on sale again. Thanks.

Unlucky :/ For me (Germany, Steam) both R&F and GS are still on sale for 10€ until the 4th of february.

You first need a Luxury Resource that has an Industry on it, along with three copies of that Luxury Resource. In addition, you need a Great Merchant. In order to form the Corporation, you need to move the Great Merchant onto the Industry you want to turn into a Corporation and use one of their build charges to turn the Industry into a Corporation. Creating a Corporation will consume the Great Merchant, however, so only use it on Great Merchants you're okay with losing the bonus of.

What does the number of foreign trading partners in "Monopolies on resources grant the player additional Gold and Tourism, based on the number of resources controlled and the number of foreign trading partners." from the official patch notes mean? Also, in the January Update Preview Video they said a similar thing - specifying Gold increase per turn based on the number of civs you're trading with. How does Gold have to do with trading??? It is only gained based on the percentage of your monopoly over a luxury resource, isn't it?

I would understand that would be the number of (major?) civs to which you have at least one trade route.

Makes sense. You normally can get +75% tourism from an international trade route (with the Online Communities policy card). So it does increase your overall tourism influence toward any given civ, adding up to the tourism bonus from a Monopoly.
Thanks for the idea!

What does it mean when a Preserve provides "up to 3 Housing based on a tile's Appeal"? I'm guessing Breathtaking tiles provide the maximum of 3 but what about other Appeals?

Is there any possible way to increase great merchants' charges by one? Any Wonder, policy, game mode?

Not that I've ever seen. 99.9% sure there's not. Sorry, it's a choice between your Grwat Merchant's ability and a corporation.

The Civ 6 wiki at least says that Great Merchants have 1 build charge in the Monopolies and Corporations Mode (for building Corporations), so they still should have their unique ability additionally.

The build charge is the ability charge. If you use one, it ends the GM, you can't use a the same GM for both actions.

However, if the Great Merchant has more than one Unique Ability Charge, for example, Marcus Licinius Crassus, you can use all but one of those Charges and save up Marcus Licinius Crassus until you unlock Corporations, and then use him to create a Corporation. I remember them saying this in the livestream.

Makes sense. I'm assuming its mix and match? Depends on the code I guess.

Where will I put my districts? I usually place improvements over resources, but this is unprecented lol.
