Random Rants 94 I rant at the thread title and shake my fist menacingly.

Have you been replaced by a H4roonBot-3000?
Lol, today I asked Bing about a plant in Indonesia called Purwoceng, it told me "I can't help you with that, lets change the topic" and I asked it again and it close the session and gave me a timeout. So this herb is known to increase testosterones level, so it blushed its cheek and went down hiding in its closet, while it has many other tremendous benefit aside of that, smh. I mean, dude, I'm a practicing Muslim, I suppose to be more prudent than you, but this is above anything.

Anyway, Composition and benefit of Purwoceng:

  1. α-Pinene (28.8%): This is a monoterpene and a major component of the essential oil obtained from various plants. It's known for its anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and bronchodilatory (ability to widen the bronchi and thus increase airflow to the lungs) properties. It's also thought to have potential anti-cancer effects.
  2. β-Pinene (17.8%): This is another monoterpene and isomer of α-pinene. It has similar properties, including anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and potential anti-cancer effects. It's also been studied for its potential benefits in diseases like Alzheimer's due to its effect on acetylcholinesterase, an enzyme involved in the disease.
  3. Myrcene (10.9%): Myrcene is a monoterpene and is often found in highly fragrant plants and herbs such as hops and lemongrass. It's known for its potential analgesic (pain-relieving) and anti-inflammatory properties.
  4. Limonene (9.7%): Limonene is a monoterpene and a major component in oil of citrus fruit peels. It's known for its strong citrusy scent. It has been studied for various potential health benefits, including anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-stress, and potential anti-cancer effects.
  5. Sabinene (7.6%): Sabinene is a natural monoterpene and is found in many plants including black pepper, basil, and spruce. It has potential antioxidant and antimicrobial properties.
  6. β-Phellandrene (5.6%): β-Phellandrene is a monoterpene and is found in many essential oils. It's known for its potential antimicrobial properties.
  7. α-Terpineol (4.4%): α-Terpineol is a monoterpene alcohol that's been associated with a number of potential health benefits, including antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and potential anti-cancer effects. It's also been studied for its potential neuroprotective effects.

This is why I keep Opera open. It doesn't insist on using bing.

I use opera for free vpn whenever a condition force me to use it. Edge to access Bing-bot, not the search engine Valka but the AI, which work pretty much like a interactive search engine because it's backed by GPT-4, while I use chrome to run BARD AI and Chatgpt-Plus, I mean those bots are employees for my small business.

Vivaldi is Opera all grown up!

A radio program about the continuing problems with public transit in this city is not filling me with confidence.

Starting salary for a bus driver in Chicago: $60,000
Starting salary for a bus driver in Boston: $43,000, and new drivers in Boston are forced to take "swing shifts", which means they drive for the morning commute, take some hours off, then come back to drive the evening commute. Presumably the drivers with seniority are allowed to drive a regular, 8-hour shift. And they tell us they're having a hard time finding people to take these positions. No [flipping] [stink]. Did I mention the median cost of living in Chicago is lower than Boston's? I make a healthy chunk more than $43,000, and I'm walking a balance-beam living here. I don't drive a bus, but maybe I should move to Chicago.

"Our public agencies need to build the capacity to undertake projects." - State Rep. Mike Connolly.
Spoiler :
December 2022: A new light rail extension, talked about for decades, finally opens at a cost of $2 billion.
June 2023: The new light rail extension will be closed on consecutive weekends, for repairs. I don't happen to use that particular tram/trolley, but wtf...

The host of the radio show noted that the new director of the transit authority declined the invitation to join the program.

So I mentioned getting banned from my MLA's FB page (in a thread in the World History subforum), probably due to a 3-year-long feud with an idiot from Medicine Hat who spun a boatload of lies (she's the one who loves spreading misinformation about an amazing number of things).

It's actually been a bit restful not to have to deal with her.

So what's the rant?

Idiot 2.0 turned up in an anti-UCP FB group I'm in. Apparently the disabled adults of Alberta live a "privileged" life and she's mad at me for wanting to make politicians' lives miserable.

Thing is, although I'd applaud if that happened, I never actually said this.

I had to point out three times the hypocrisy of her carrying on about civility, while constantly using the f-word.

Dunno where this one's from. If it's anywhere in southern Alberta, I have to wonder what's in the water there that makes people into idiots. Hopefully this one doesn't think the world is only 2000 years old.

Clearly the world is almost six thousand years old as Shakespeare says, Valka. Tsk, tsk.

I doubt this twit ever heard of Shakespeare. There are times when I doubt her claims of graduating high school since she has the EQ of a cranky 4-year-old and doesn't know much past early junior high level. And I'm being generous in that estimation. The only time when she ever strings together a properly-spelled and coherent English sentence is when she plagiarizes it from someone else.

She thinks I'm "mentally unstable" for using paragraphs and quoting her posts (have to, or nobody would be able to figure wtf I was talking about, or to whom). She actually mused about contacting the cops here and telling them I'm mentally unstable.

That's a threat I take seriously, due to the fact that I actually do have an official diagnosis of depression and a prescription for anti-depressants, added to the fact that there are a lot of stupid cops who don't have a clue how to deal with people who have this diagnosis. They are also largely not trained to deal with diabetics whose glucose can rollercoaster very quickly due to stress, and someone who's hypo looks like they're drunk. The truth is that their blood sugar is dangerously low and they need something sweet to eat or drink NOW.

Outdoor vending machines....always wary of using them, figuring there is a good chance I won't get back my change...or get the product at all. And no one to report this to, to get a refund.

But tried one, for first time in years. Wanted to check phone anyways, so I pulled off the road up to one. 2 AM, so its dark, with just the lights from the machine and my headlights. Put my dollar in, get my drink, and sounds like something went in the change tray. Hey, maybe I got my quarter after all.

I reach for my change and I pick up a large beetle!

My province is on fire!

I'd send rain if I could, but it'd evaporate by the time it got there. :(

Forecast is heavy rain on Saturday. Not sure how much that will help, though. The Barrington/Shelburne County fire's pretty much up against the ocean and it jumped a harbour.

Sparks were blown across and set things on fire on the other side?

EDIT: I just read the article on cbc.ca

How far away is this from you?

Summer school starts Monday. We have to use an online thing for syllabi (for the first time, so there are many issues with it), and they are taking the system down for this whole weekend (for upgrades). They have locked biology faculty out of their offices for the next 4 days so they can strip and wax the floor. They are turning off the air conditioning in science labs for the entire summer, with essentially no notice. I'm not having a good morning.

What's the deal with airplane food, am I right?
This person brought his own food:

Nowhere near them, thankfully. But things are so dry that a risk of starting a new one, especially if the idjits won't stop doing illegal burns.

A useful tip I learned when I flew to Poland was to always request kosher/dietary restriction meals. Nobody actually checks if you have those restrictions and at least the airline I flew on (Lot, Polish flag carrier) provided kosher substitute meals for no additional charge. Because those meals are less common, they are made to order and are served first because they get added to the front of the meal-box. (Served first is an important consideration on those big widebody jets!)
