My one more day is a half day! :D

I love storms, and the Washington Coast is currently getting a great one! :D

Recently saw the BBC miniseries "Walking with Cavemen." The story of our true origins is far more inspiring, beautiful, and poetic than any creation myth.

Well, we got some snow last weekend...

Okay, about a half-inch, but better than nothing. :p

And it's raining too hard.

Finished a nice 11 page essay with 7 hours spent formatting citations. Feels good even if the work was awful. Tomorrow I'm meeting Integral!! :D

I'm a great fan of prehistoric stuff, particularly well-researched stuff. :)

I bought a new computer this morning :D:D

So yeah, I'm back from a Model UN Convention in Chicago!
I was the Chilean delegate to ECOSCO (Economic and Social Committee) and it was a blast. Since it was a bunch of college students in a hotel with essentialy no supervision, for many it was a 4-day long open bar, with some interesting results. For example, a clearly drunk Russian Federation delegate had the following point of inquiry: "If you propose that we focus on educating women and children, should we also focus on cats, dogs, mice, and other small mammals?"
Additionaly, we discovered the French delegate can't hold his liquor and he started badly hitting on my partner after he put straight rum in his coffee cup and the Guatemalan delegates were endeavoring to discover the worst drink in existence by first mixing orange fanta, vodka, whiskey, and tequila together; and then mixing mello yellow, vodka, whiskey, tequila, and gin together!
The dance was interesting. You would think that a dance for a bunch of model UN nerds would be dull, it wasn't. It got interesting at around 11:30 when all the smashed people started showing up. I left before then, but according to the Australian delegate, it was a cross between Animal Planet's "Mating Season" and Jersey Shore. He was convinced that if the dance had gone on longer, the grinding and face eating would have degenerated into cannibalism.

Moving aside from the 'open bar' aspect of Model UN, I managed to get a resolution on the water issue in Israel-Palestine passed with no against votes and only one abstention (darn Russian Federation!), and I managed to salvage a resolution criticizing Israeli treatment of the Palestinians (specificaly in the West Bank) resulting in social and economic problems by getting an ammendment brought to the attention of Australia that addressed the problems, and Australia got it passed as they were the leader in the committee. The UK was represented by two bimbos, China never said a word, and America only became active during the Palestine debate but we got them to abstain on the resolution criticizing Israel and affirming Palestinian self-determination (which implies future statehood, like Kosovo).

Just finished the last day of school for the week! :goodjob: Sadly, I have an essay to dabble with over the time, but it shouldn't be too bad.

Funny how time zones work, I haven't even started yet.

It's been so stormy (which I love) that I found an Earthworm inside my house this morning!

Homeschooling obeys no timezone limitations or regular school schedules, which is why I am finished at 10:30 A.M. my time. :)

Ah, that makes more sense. 10:30 am would be really early to get out in a Public school. :p

Aw man. Sounded like fun.

It was fun, if only for the ability to play "UN Bingo" the next day and see how many marks you could get in the 'clearly hung over' box and 'that isn't coffee in the cup' box.

EDIT: Avoiding a double post, but I nearly fell asleep in Spanish so when the teacher asked if we had any questions, I raised my notebook without thinking and said "point of information" which is the Model UN form of asking a question!

This isn't exactly a rave but after hearing about Hulk Hogan's divorce settlement I can definitely see the advantage of not being allowed to get married (ie. gay marriage).
