Random Raves XV: Like Skipping Through A Field of Flowers

Finals are over, now I can work at the lab and prepare for ACF Nationals like a boss.

I just started Mass Effect 2 earlier this week and I am loving it.

It's not as good as Mass Effect, but it's a good game, nonetheless. :)

Ohhh, dear. Now you've gone and done it. :mischief:

(I was conflicted at first, but at this point I think I like ME2 better as a game. That said, I still wish they hadn't removed so much that was in ME.)

I mostly agree with you that ME2 is technically a better game, but it's just a team-shooter with excellent story-telling, rather than the actual role-playing shooter that ME1 was. It's also as simple as blue versus red (literally), as the load screen for the first game was much more pleasant. :)

I quite agree, actually. I'm having loads of fun with ME2, but I wasn't expecting it to be quite so devoid of RPG-ness. I don't think they needed to go quite so far in removing so much, but streamlining is a tricky tricky thing.

Quite why they thought a pixel-hunting graph game was better than exploring in the Mako, I have no idea, but that's a rant, not a rave. :)

HAHAHA, yeah, there's that. I mean, UNC worlds sucked in ME, but after a dozen or so planetary mineral-scanning sessions in ME2, I was feeling a bit underwhelmed by the replacement. (Could they at least make "Active Scanners" a toggle instead of a hold?? My left index finger is tired. My fault for playing on Xbox, I guess.)

Well, the snow here is finally melting.
:woohoo:

Planet scanning is wholly, totally, completely optional. Using the Mako wasn't.

And the controls for planet scanning actually work. :p

The role of planet scanning is supposed to be diminished even more in the third game from what it was in the second. It'll still be there in some form, though, according to CHuds.

I am confused as to why you people think that ME2 was "less of an RPG" than ME1. Enlighten me! :)

Let me just RAVE at the use of Dr. Cox quotes.

In b4 Dachs, but Mass Effect 2 is superior.

EDIT: Curse your new avatar Dachs!

It might be. I have no idea what it is.
