Single Player bugs and crashes v35 plus (SVN) - After the 18th of August 2014

So I've tried to start several games and the UI wont show up. It is not alt + I issue.
All that has changed is that is that I have started playing on the SVN version.

Maybe I messed up SVN update process.

Attached is what I see starting up.

Do you have another copy of Caveman2Cosmos in your BtS/Mod folder? Are you trying to play out of the path from My Documents instead of the main Civ IV path? What OS are you using? Is your copy of BtS from Steam?

There is no other copy in mods folder. I'm pretty sure I'm playing out of civ path in the program files folder.

I followed these instructions when setting up my SVN:

I have my "update" copy of civ in "Documents/MyGames/", its called C2C SVN. Within that same folder I have my step 3 2nd temp folder copy called C2C SVN Update. I then copied this as the instructions said to my BTS/mods folder. I always delete the old copy of C2C from my bts/mods folder.
Attached is my folder set up.

Using Windows 8.1 and my copy is not from stream.

When I was playing off the v35 direct download I never had any issues.

If you have anything in your CustomAssets or /Assets/Cache folders, try deleting them (I advise making a copy of CustomAssets first).
If you are not calling the mod "Caveman2Cosmos", try doing so.
 
Another good idea is to set up a shortcut that calls c2c mod and references a separate ini (e.g. civ4c2c.ini). There's instructions how to do so on one of the stickied threads. It prevents lots of problems.

When you copied this Folder into your BtS/Mods Folder did you make sure it was named Caveman2Cosmos? Or did you leave it named as you posted in this quote? Hopefully you "named" it Caveman2Cosmos and not any thing else.

We will get this figured out. (and sorry to see you are using Win 8.1, impo). ;) :p

I had this happen many times (UI disappear on making new game). That's what i do - save game, close civ, restart and load game - everything is in place and you can play.
 
Thank you Talin. I think your tip works, a permanent fix would be nice but hey I'll take it haha.

Just happy I'm not stuck playing crappy, simple civ 5 anymore :lol::lol:

Look at the first post in the 'Player How To Documentation'. It's the 3rd link and states 'See this post...'

Or go here and follow the step by step procedure. It's worth the effort.
 
The Update from Hunting Preserve to Wildlife Sanctuary brings some Problems for the following resources:

  • Sea Lion and Seal
  • Walrus
  • Beavers
  • Mammoth
  • Elephants

With Wildlife Sanctuary the bonus will not be provided anymore.
In the city's some buildings stop to work, because the needed resource in the city vicinity isn't there anymore.

In the current SVN, The Forbidden Palace shows 0/8 courthouses built in order to build the national wonder, even though all 13 towns have the free Courthouse from Hammurabi Stele of Laws.

If you can build the Forbidden Palace then it's just a Hover or Text error.

Discovered a bug that gives you roughly extra +13 - +15 points of science at the start, which is incremental.

Basically:
1. You start a game by generating a map, build the 1st city, then all is good.
2. Then if you don't like the map, you regenerate the map, build the city (to reveal more tiles), still science modifier is correct.
3. But now, suppose you regenerate map again (after having built 1st city), you regenerate and on the new map settle again. NOW the science is around 29 (i.e. approx double the start value).
4. Now if you regenerate map and settle again, it will be triple the start value. And so on.

So for every map regeneration + settle, the initial science value you get goes up by about +15.

This works even if you reload a game saved at turn 0, and regenerate + settle from there.

No biggie, but still a bug.
 
Got this dump. added Dangerous thing by Rwn, i started the game but forgot to make option choices, but it just went to desktop and as soon as i clicked on back to Main Menu??

More than likely when this happens means something with the ART is messed up, IMPO. . .??

That's a known bug, caused exactly by regenerating a map on Turn 0. Don't do it and you'll be fine. :)
 
I can confirm the UI not showing up. No minimap in Worldbuilder either.

EDIT: Applied Joseph´s fix of naming the folder "Caveman2Cosmos" instead of "Caveman 2 Cosmos" and it works now. Thanks.
 
Ok, so it appears in SVN that any wonder or building that grants a free building for all Cities means that anything that requires them counts your total as zero and you are completely unable to build them, unless you head on over to the World builder. It appears that this bug only appears on national and great wonders.

This is not a text error or anything of the like, free buildings count for nothing when meeting requirements and cause one unable to build said master building.

Edit: it appears with fight or flight on, when a cloaked unit (e.g. ambushers) flees or is trapped, their nationality is stated in the script.



Another edit (beats spamming posts!): It only appears that only Wonders, both Great and National, that require more than one of such building to build (8 on a huge map) have the bug where free buildings do not count. For normal buildings that only require say a courthouse in the city, said checks out fine and one is able to fulfill the request.
