StarNES: Updates Without Number (Epoch I)

I thought so but the name/planet combination is needed for the plotline. (yes my planets have a plot line :p)

I'm just trying to make clusters of systems whose names sound familiar. See Nocturna/Lacuna and such stars.

Edit: The wormhole in 0420 Nim Frauling is labeled wrong. It goes to 2320 Miyabi, not 2302.

Corrected for the next update.

Alright, as I have 12/17 orders in I am setting the deadline for Update V orders for:

28.3.2012 Midnight (i.e. tomorrow at 24:00) GMT-4.

SK: 43 GC
8 GC into making a large asteroid field in Varynx (2209), 8 GC into making a large asteroid field in Kraton-Kamulon (2309) (27 GC left)
20 GC into placing two medium planets around Kraton-Kamulon (7 GC left)
6 GC into placing three moons in Kraton-Kamulon; 2 around the habitable world and 1 around the other one (1 GC left)
Bank 1 GC.

11:59 PM on the 28th of March.

Probably.

Tomorrow night, as midnight is always on the same day (it's not till 12:01 that it transitions to the next day!)

Just assume that when I say "Midnight of Friday" or something I mean 12:00pm (i.e. what comes after 11:00pm).

Jesus, I can see why people elsewhere in the world use the 24-hour system.

Oh, Tambien, if you go over the last two pages you'll see some pretty cool ideas we've come up with that I'm going to implement this turn. It might not be a bad idea to put them into Space Seed!

100GC¤ to spend
In hex 1120, create three stars, the triplet
Give the system 2 medium and one small rockey planet
Put an asteroid field around Taman, large 8gc
Bank the rest

Is the system name "Triplet"?

Suggestion: Blue stars, if they undergo a supernova, should have a 50-50 chance of turning into a neutron star or black hole.
I don't know how well this would work in game, but I'll put it out there.

Nah, black holes are monstrous forces of destruction in this NES--having every other blue star potentially become one would mess up the balance.

I'd make it lower, to be honest. 5/95 for Black Hole/Neutron Star, mainly because I am hesitant to have that much chance for wide-scale destruction of a black hole's extent. Remember, they destroy the hex they spawn in and have a 50% chance to destroy the hexes around them.

Also, for the supernova→nebula thing, originally the supernova automatically lead to a nebula, but that's not the case anymore. Would it be more appropriate to have it be 5/60/35, with that being Black Hole/Neutron Star/Nebula, or would it make more sense to have nebula formation be the more common result in the aftermath of a supernova? I may love scifi with all my heart, but my knowledge of astronomy is pretty much relegated to a single 100-level course I took last year.

A nebula is almost always formed by a supernova or hypernova.

Nova (Standard sized star) = White Dwarf (No nebula as much of the remnant gasses remain around the core because the explosion isn't violent enough to throw them away.)
Super Nova (Large Star) = Neutron star or Pulsar + an ejected nebula.
Hyper Nova (Very large star) = Black hole + Nebula + Gamma ray burst

So, what, a neutron star+nebula system? That's... interesting. It certainly changes some of my plans for how warp-drive would function in epoch iii... Or perhaps not! I'll go with Supernova→Neutron Star+Nebula (large percent for this) or a black hole (small percent for this).
