Having cows in the city is usually frowned upon for some reason...
Especially in aparrtments. Neighbours usually whine about it......
I'm reminded of the pictorial guide our former premier posted on FB during the first year of the pandemic, to teach Albertans how to do proper social distancing: the length of one adult cow or two calves. Or the length of a regulation hockey stick (not a goalie stick, as they're shorter).

I was in a quandary; I'm allowed cats here, but not cows. And I've never owned a hockey stick, unless you count the toy one I got in a cereal box about 50 years ago. It was pretty small, though, and impractical to use as a social distancing measure.

Is there any good software for transcribing audio from a recording? And indicate different speakers, maybe?

Premium is acceptable, though ideally nothing that has an exorbitant cost to it.

I wish there were. :(

Microsoft Office 360 supposedly has the ability to auto-transcribe recordings uploaded to the Office cloud, and it even has a free option, though I don't know many of the features are curtailed without being premium.

I know that Project DeepSpeech exists, but that is all.

DeepSpeech is an open-source Speech-To-Text engine, using a model trained by machine learning techniques based on Baidu's Deep Speech research paper. Project DeepSpeech uses Google's TensorFlow to make the implementation easier.
I sent this plus Otter.ai to my friend. She's been doing transcriptions manually this semester and I've been looking for a way to get her to... not do that.

Thank you.

According to my weather app sunrise on the solstice was 8:04am. Dec 26th sunrise is 8:06am. What's up w that?

Shortest day doesn't automatically mean earliest sunset, your sunset should be later too.

I can't find the what are you drinking thread. I have unimportant nonsense I want share. Edit: while drunk.
Edit 2: to ask a question where is the what are you drinking thread?

Use the search function. It has yielded some interesting results.

I've tried, briefly. I'll refer you to my earlier post where I imply I'm drunk.

Separately: I know the average age on this forum is similar to my own 40ish.
And I've honestly lost my thread of thought...

I've played Civ V since it came out. I only just reached the point where it feels played out for me.

I purchaced Civ VI when it came out, but only played a few games before going back to Civ V (just because I was more in the mood for a game where I knew all the strategies than one where I was learning all the strategies).

I'm thinking of buying the Platinum edition on the Steam sale, rather than the Anthology. Looking at description of the Anthology, it looks like all it really adds (to Platinum) is maybe a dozen added civs, and that it's those dozen added civs that account for the difference in price between Anthology and Platinum. I can live without extra civs.

Or would I be missing something else important if I only go with Platinum?

Thanks in advance.

I have been sent a weird spam email from an account that is an exact calque of a friend's, but with a different domain name, and it addresses me by a more-or-less correct name, i.e. my address without any capitalisation or spaces.

Should I assume that my friend's account has been hacked?

Yes.
