This is just pathetic. 80% or more Crimeans want to be part of Russia and 80% of Syrians support its government which the West is trying to destroy. If you dont see a patern there you need Democracy to come and smack you to wake you up.
I have distilled your post into:
Jihadists are the proxies of the US proxies, public opinion wants the Kurds to have their own sovereign nation-state. The Kurds capture places from the US' secondhand proxies and thus openly gain it, rather than having a secession movement… and the Iranians want a link to the Mediterranean coast so they are the only ones standing in the way?
ı don't think much is missing , but that the thing also involves 10 million dead Turks as a "by-product" is not a thing people discuss in the media , thus enter "conciousness" or whatever and become more widespread is kinda limited to me for the "duration" so it can't be involved in any judging of your post . And the irony of it is that Iranians were content with Iraq as a buffer and even ready to forego Hizbullah in Lebanon until the Jihadi boys showed them truly uncapable of conducting military operations in full without open US air cover and entered the Syrian fray only after 2012 , like betraying the spineless jerk in the process . It became even lovelier when the Russians were asked by Washington to keep an eye on Iranians and yeah , Cold War II ...
the fake crisis continues ; with Washington in dire need of explanation . Hence that Crown Prince affair in the Saudi ... Being young at 30 something , ı have no doubts that he would have no troubles whatsoever at places like Cote d'Azur ; for that , you would have to look for the wisdom of a certain idiot you might have noticed in this thread and yeah , it's an essential piece to understand the Counter-Revolution in Turkey ; with Santa Turgut and his bunch convinced with the revelations that the Arabs could not ; Americans were like totally disgusted with Arabs in actuality and would have welcomed "men" taking over the Middle East and all they had to do was destroying the Turkish Republic . You know , to be acceptable for the millions of people in the Middle East , waiting for the just rule of Ottomans to return . Aaaand , billions of barrels of Oil , but then this is a trifle , a little thing for the highly principled "Muslims" who do it all "Sevabına" , for Afterlife .
as such the young future King of Arabia ... Whose ascent to the Defence Ministry was celebrated with the "War" in Yemen in which the everly totally glorious Saudi Airforce bombs marketplaces and the like . But then the everly totally glorious Saudi Airforce is twice better than the aerial branch of the Army of Petrol . Supposedly offering to escort the PM's plane on the night of the Disgrace of July 15th , while the ever heroic aerial branch finally managing to launch a "friendly CAP" like 4 or 6 hours late and on the other side of the country . How this happenz ? Despite it was denied venomously or something in proper places ? F-15 rulez , man , even against the F-16s . Especially when the F-16s can not dare getting out of "own" radar coverage ... As a reminder , the Coup failed to "capture" the radar HQ in Eskişehir or whatever and was limited to Ankara and high speed passes or something in Istanbul . While the Saudis , if they were ever aloft , no doubt would receive feed from the AWACSes and stuff .
oh yeah , F-15 rulez . Especially as a contract to buy American loyalties . And of course , the funny thing is Qataris were to buy that 36 anyhow . If the new guys in Washington , including their ever unspurious President want to create extra jobs , they would have forced Doha to exercise the option on a further 36 .
Spoiler:
but then that's the fault of the Turks anyhow . See , F-15 sells only as an attack aircraft in the 21st Century , where capitalism holds the court unopposed and only proper war happenz against marketplaces full of Brown People without Oil . No , am not goin' to rant about the 70s when Americans promised military aid for the 90s . Meaning , they would turn over their used F-15s after two decades of service or something as they would be replaced . See , we had this unhealthy demand for Phantoms with a force level meant to last us into the 2000s , with the undoubtedly hard and harsh work of a national type probably complete by then . No aviation expert will ever believe that of course , but the guys asked for pylon strength and the lot for bombs . Israelis were fashionable in those days , and the demands were naturally attributed to the Mirage V mutation of the Dagger and very few Americans would remember those guys would have long been sent to talk with German vets of the WW II . Who would have ample experience of how every fighter becomes a ground pounder when aerial superiority is "achieved" . And how the P-47 utterly ruled , being big and powerful . Russians were "offering" to sell MiGs but would not have opposed Sukhois , you know ... And every aviation expert will now be jumpin' up and down that it was General Creech of USAF that made the F-15E possible . Utter BS , the Electric Wedge competed with the Fast Packed F-15 , only because the US Lawmakers demanded that the attack aircraft demands of the USAF for the 90s could only be met by a derivative of types already in service in the US , to save money in the extraordinarily "expensive" 80s . The F-16 XL , the Wedge mentioned above , would be even more competitive if it got the more powerful F-110 engine and this was a thing that the Pentagon has been busy ever since it first opened its doors in 1942 or something .
indeed so , now that Aviation is big business and GE , being a mere ancillary in the piston era , could transform itself into a player in the coming jet era and Churchill having his country invented such a new form of propulsion , naturally wanted British companies with some proper American off-shoots or something , guaranteed a sizeable slice of the American contracts . Washington ordered its own engine makers , such powerhouses like Pratt Whitney and the like to keep working on pistons and leave the future to "Brits and their allies" ... This is exactly why the now extinct Turkish Airforce was a straight Block 30/40/50 user , with GE facing a new Pentagon fiat every decade that it will cease jet engine production and that of the 70s finally overcome with Turks refusing to buy anything without a GE engine in it . And GE's PR machine and the lot , well versed in how business is conducted in the US , creating scenarios of doom and whatnot , and some honest response , too . Creech chose the F-15 , only because it had two of the PW engines and could perform well enough ; even if PW would develop a F-110 equivalent in due course for the fiat of 90s , when the F-22 contract gave the future to the PW and nothing was left for the rest ...
and yeah , this is entirely on topic , because if the Qataris were ordered to exercise the option for an extra 36 , that would have made the work of London even harder ... See , the facilities in Turkey , the GE forced through all the haters in the Washington DC , is supposed to build a fighter jet for New Turkey . Incredible numbers promised , but ı for one would know they will not be able to replace the 240 odd F-16s on a one-by-one basis ; hence to be bought by our Sunni Brothers . All those Brown People with Oil , the Emirates , the Saudis ... Company account , elsewhere , naturally now says New Turkey is under the threat of Saudi F-15s and this justifies the QFX , the Qatari Fighter with the X thrown as the coolness factor , to be developed in Ankara , under the matchlessly superlative guidance of BAE . Incredible heroism from Washington , they could have got 21 billions out of 72 jets instead of 12 from 36 ...
and amazing things that has done , the Ameerican foreign minister , Tillerson by the name , says Muslim Brotherhood is not that bad , it's even democratically eleected to many parliaments , including the one of Turkey . Now that was interesting ; Ihvan was always a brotheer but no one has ever claimed membership in Turkey , right ? The country where every single politician is more Nationalist than the otheer . Would Al Crusading be kind enough to name those people as weell ?
ah , the company account is the one to watch ; from him we learn Ankara has started distributing MANPADS in Syria . No doubt after the poor Qataris were unable to pay and our most heroic sunnier Sunni Brothers simply started killing each other under the nose of Army of Petrol and abandoned ship . Some joining Damascus as the true Syrian patriots they always where , others joining the Kurds . ı especially love TV debate claims that Ankara was setting the strategy and the loser Qataris were just paying the bribes ... As usual , the West is watching , because let me see , Ankara is an actor on its own and everybody fears Ankara and the West is honestly not storing all the evidence that Ankara supplying people in Syria with weapons . Ah , Freedom Fighters . You are a bigger man if you have more of them and did you know New Turkey is raising 150 000 of them ? ı don't think that's even 15 000 , but no , any Party troll is all about talking however stupid ... Possibly not even 1500 , or 150 , but all the Westerners fear the New Turkey when they hear such stuff ! Gets even better for we also learn the Army of Petrol , that couldn't carry out a coup on the Disgrace of July 15th , you know America moved the Congregation only partially , is the 6th Military Power of the planet .
am just about dying out of sheer jealousy ...
and the topping of the cake ; the New Turkey to cut water supplies to Iraq ; an Israeli demand since 1956 .
this is probably what brings that Iraqi guy to the thread . When ISIL was running amok and wreaking havoc with every Sunni or Kurdish unit on its path , the guy had offered a full explanation on the whys and hows . Like the Iraqi Army not having a single RPG-7 , for they might have been turned on the Americans who long controlled everything and corruption delayed the acquisitions far too much .
Spoiler:
But it was the same Baathists goons who gave Kurdistan the right of self determination already in 1970 (after the kurds have been fighting for decades against iraq), and kurds had self-rule from 1970-1975, but never took independence because they weren't happy with the amount of land (and oil reserves) they had... so from 1970 onwards Kurdistan has been fighting to increase its land mass, deport non-kurds from areas they take over, and "change" the place names (for example, the capital Erbil, has been called Erbil for nearly 4000 years and is a Semitic/Assyrian city name... Kurds now want people to call it "Hewler" and many of the kurdophile westerners started calling it Hawler, as if it was "evil arabs" who changed the name to Erbil and now it was "reverting" to its origin...). similarly Iraqi Christians were always anti-kurd... but somehow the western media always portrayed kurds positively despite their participation in genocide against middle eastern Christians and taking over their town and cities (which now make up most of Kurdistan).
Of course saddam killed an even greater number of shia arabs after 1991... so his madness wasn't only against kurds per se (even during the 1980s, he carried out the ethnic cleansing against eastern kurds in collaboration with western kurds... a.k.a "saddam's knights" as they were known... and who include much of the present Kurdish leadership.
here's izzat al douri and chemical ali with the Kurdish leadership in 1984...
I find it fascinating how little people know about Iraqi Kurdistan and its relations with Iraq and its history. There's just the default "arab bad, kurd good, fight freedom".
anyway, back on topic.
With Kurdistan in Iraq potentially finally declaring statehood this year... It will open a whole new can of worms for the other countries with large Kurdish populations. If the KRG can somehow get rid of Barzani, then they could come to an agreement to include the Syrian part of Kurdistan into the state... and then the "big fight" for "northern Kurdistan" will be in sight.
gets a response along the lines of

I am not a Erdogan worshipper but rather an individual well informed of what is going on. Despite popular belief Turkish Foreign Policy of late is not dictated by President Erdogan but rather a segment of the the Turkish Military brass. President Erdogan is merely the face of such policies. Since the creation of modern day Turkey there has been a segment of the Turkish military brass who have advocated for Turkish Foreign Policy to be equidistant to Russia and the US. Turkey's rapprochement with Russia is the product of these General's becoming mainstream. President Erdogan enabled this through military appointments.
and yeah , the Russian jet was ... Anyhow and whatever . Along some threat of using a "fifth column" . Leads to an even more sarcastic response

How can I forget the 0.3M Turkmen? Heresy!
However it may have come to your attention that the number of sunni-turkmen in ninawa is trending to zero just about now. I am curious to know which particular cities you're talking about?
Or is this some sort of 500 person village of Turkmen you're thinking of?
Tel afar in which the Salafist Turkmen are at the point of extermination at the hands of the PMU with the turks unable to do anything? ...[T]he sunni Turkmen mass murdered the shia Turkmen in tel afar in 2014. not Saudis, ... Sunni Turkmen. i.e. the "proper" Turkmen did it. No one else.
was most amazing to see , when Qatar was set to take over the world and make its Emira the First Lady of the world , supposedly according to something called the Huffington Post , that some journo of a most Nationalistic newspaper . Talking about how badly misinformed they were about Saddam's Iraq . Raising a storm of protest like every three months that Saddam was oppressing Turkomans , thinking they were kinsmen . Yeek ! Turned out they were all Shia and there was no need to be doing anything for them . Ah , this is indeed what money can do ...
that leads to a "normal" day . The Army of Petrol heroically reaches Qatar , in a Qatari C-17 , with 23 troops and 5 "light armoured vehicles" , which should be those 4x4 Cobras . Stupendous for the 6th military power of the world , but then a gigantic ship of 4 000 tons has left the Port of Izmir carrying food to the starving Qataris . Who are saving their sheep and camels for worse days , no doubt , on the wrong side of the border with the Saudis . And yeah , Army of Petrol unsure whether its Arab patrons will change has taken the safe route and released pictures of its personnel with Runic lettering on their uniforms , no doubt harking to our pagan past . Even the Voice of the Counter-Revolution was on TV last night . A member of the Hülya Koçyiğit and just a few are not traitors committee she hhad fallen out of favour when the "peace" with seperatists were no longer acceptable to the Party . And no doubt in that too , she says Kerkük and Musul will join the New Turkey ... Am like so old that ı can't even type "Yeah, right." ı should perhaps rant on how the QFX is now a F-22 Lite and BAE could bang one for the anniversary day of the dead Turkish Republic or by the end of the year , but they are like choosing an engine and it's a god given right for the New Turkey to be begged . ı don't know what would life be if they had any real money .
So the Arab countries sent a list of demands to Qatar that must be agreed upon in one week to lift the blockade. Some are entirely reasonable, and the fact that they need to be asked in the first place highlights the villainy of the Qatari regime. Demands like ending ties with Hamas, cutting financing of other terrorist groups, handing over a host of terrorists currently living there, and making it harder for its own citizens to finance terrorism (which currently they do freely and with the tacit approval of Qatari authorities). Other demands, like those related to Iran, are more "geopolitical bullying" than a legitimate concern over terrorism and foreign meddling.
My guess is that getting rid of Al Jazeera, or forcing it to self censureship, is one of their main targets
to minimise internal revolts in their own monarchies.
The rest, the anti terrorists stuff, the global political correct wow and flutter, just a distraction.
The other real target I can see is the weakening of the Muslim Brotherhood.
Diplomacy of sanctions doesn't work with anybody. With Russia it doesn't even suppose to work as diplomacy - it's merely a punishment for independent politics, covered by a fig leaf of rhetoric about "occupation" and "territorial integrity". Nobody in the West gives a damn about Crimea any more than about Golan heights, Northern Cyprus or Kosovo.
Not sure what this cry-baby wishy washy post is about when you dont even put any arguments on the table. Quick look into recent history and present rather shows the opposite. Diplomacy with Putins Russia and the West was decent for good number of years and you should be asking why it went into gutter. The sanctions then quite contrary to your statement made Putin go on succesful big diplo offensive....
You can have a good relations inspite border disputes if you have a good will. Poland--Czechia relations are just one example. I see the real problem in global/geopolitical agenda with the problems like border disputes as a useful tool and something to be exploited in its favour e.g. for weakening of Russia. Its beyond doubt Russia needs to develop its own huge territory foremost and for that you need good relations on all fronts. The only thing is Russia isnt willing to sacrifice its independence or increase its dependence in the process...
He never though that the USSR would dissolve? He was ukranian? Probably the former.
Keep in mind that historically there was no Ukraine-as-nation. It was a region of several empires, for the past few centuries a region of the Russian Empire. And the USSR was kind of the continuation of that empire (so much so that the british kept thinking of the soviets as their old rivals "the russians". Thus giving Crimea to ukraine was a mere regional adjustment for administrative purposes. Crimea has been the most dangerous piece of the post-USSR region precisely because its history of going for independence is rather dark (civil war, ww2 and the decade after) and its borders do not match the "national feelings" its population may be induced to have. I have long feared that a WW3 may come out of that country.
Both.
Ukraine didn't have established borders before 1917 and Bolsheviks drew borders of Ukrainian SSR quite arbitrarily.
Crimea was given to it later, as you said, for purely administrative purposes.
I think that in the 50s there was also an intention, with that transfer, of making sure that the separatists in western Ukraine would become a smaller minority within the borders of the republic. And it worked fir a few decades. Until Yeltsin made his grab for power and just declared the USSR dissolved overnight, without any border adjustments.
You are mixing different things together. Also coming from likely an adherent of the NATO which serves as a tool to punish and criple anyone pursuing independent policies different than the ones coherent with the interests of the West under the pretext of serving democracy it sounds naive at minimum.
Remember that they also continued the Russification policies, especially in occupied countries.
But back to Qatar… the blockaders want to stop Qatar's backing for the wrong Islamists and the King's allowing Al-Jazeera to publish stuff in Arabic detailing how bad they are.
Russification mainly consisted of making everyone learn Russian as a state language, in addition to native one.
Native languages in Baltic SSRs had regional status, which is more favorable than the status of Russian language there now, in 2017.
