I am planning on doing a scenario on the Aghanistan Civil War between the 1994 and 1997, during the height of Taliban.

The units I want are

MiG-21 - a short-range day fighter-interceptor
ASU 85 - A self propelled artillery piece.
BM-12 - multiple rocket launcher system
T-64 Tank -
Mi-24 Heli. - Attack Helicopter.
Mi-8T Heli. - ?????
Su-25 - Air-ground fighter-bomber.
SCUD Missile - Ground to ground missile.

Also, does anyone know what APC were the Russians using in the Soviet-Afghanistan war?
Russian APC - I would like one of these as well.

IF ANYONE WANTS TO HELP, I'LL BE VERY PLEASED TO DELEGATE WORK - Especially if your any good at events.txt, because there is some complicated events during this period.

Have you loked in the Ranging Dragon Scen, the one
about a Chinese invasion of Russia.

Didn't you stop that project?

Before anybody supplies these units from the Raging Dragon graphics, I'd like to propagate the originals which also have my initials. Credit me if you use them.

P.S I've provided the original Mig-21 template in case you want to make your own colour scheme.

P.P.S I know there are a few older Mi-24s knocking around, plus the TOT conversion.

What about the:
ASU 85 - A self propelled artillery piece.
BM-12 - multiple rocket launcher system
Mi-8T Heli.
SCUD Missile

Does anyone know any units like these?

The APC that the Soviets were using would probably have been the BMP-2 during most of the war and perhaps the BMP-3 at the end of it. If you have the T-90, then include the BMP-3, as these were both new designs.:)

Cheers, gerryanderson for the units. I just have a little query: what are the units below, because I might use one of them in my scenario.

The second from left is eithre the T-72, T-62, or the T-64. The third is an American APC, I'm tempted to say LVT-6 from the Vietnam era but also I've seen it recently. The fourth from left was supposed to be I think some Chinese APC.

From left to right they are: BDRM-80 (Soviet), T-72 (Soviet), M-113 (American), Type 90 IFV (Chinese), YW 531 APC (Chinese). They were all originally made by Jimmywax, and I extensivly modified the T-72 you've posted :)

BTW, that compelation posted by Art of War has been modified since I posted it - some of the artists identities seem to have been accidently omited.

Here's some of the units you were after Tom. The Scud and Katusha units are by Captain Nemo, the BM-21 is by Darthveda and the helicopter is by Andrew Livings (I *think*)

Does anyone know the type of Mobile SAM vehicle the Russians were using in Afghanistan? Does anyone have a unit picture? If not then does anyone have a decent Russian Mobile SAM vehicle?

If I get this then I can start creating the scenario

PS. Thankyou everyone for the units so far:goodjob:

I've found a new site that is great for my scenario:
http://www.unomaha.edu/afghanistan_atlas/powers.html
This ones also good, but its quoting from the same page, I think.
http://www.msnbc.com/modules/new_battlefield/afghanistan.asp?cp1=1

The new units I now need are:
T-54 and T-55 main battle tanks,
BMP infantry fighting vehicles,
BTR troop carriers and BRDM-2 scout cars.
Scud-B short-range ballistic missiles (25-30 missiles at most).
Frog 7 short-range ballistic missiles.
Luna M missiles (I think the Luna-M and Frog 7 are the same missile - just different a name).

There are so many different types of artillery, do I simply make a unit called "Artillery"?

Also, it would be nice if any military-minds out there would like to tell me how good each unit should be.

Cheers, again:goodjob:

Hey, your project looks really promising....can I playtest?:D

Here´s my thought about units:

You should include a "Stinger SAM" unit for the afghans. Those amounted for aprox. 95% of soviet combat aircraft and chopper losses.
Soviet SAM systems in use in afghanistan:
SA-7 man-portable
SA-4b mobile
SA-6 SP
SA-3 SP
SA-9 SP

in order of number in use.

The principal 122mm howitzer for the soviet army was the M-63/D-30

For the unit strenght, I can give you accurate numbers on differnet aspects and comperative strenghts.

Believe it or not todays the first day I've had the Civ II on the super powerful downstairs computer and I've run into a problem.
My units, rules and game files won't work, here see what you thinks wrong with them:

Has anyone got Mig 19s, Guard towers and barbed wire units?

Can anyone show the units N korean and South korean posses?

At what time do you mean?
I can give you pretty accurate numbers for today and around 1980, and of course 1950.

Clark: Look in Nemo's Second Front and Red Front, there are some barbed wire units. I don't remember if there are any guard towers, but look anyway. About the MiG-19, I'm sure it's somewhere in the Units! thread.
