I'd answer the best part of me is Italian. The Irish and English part should have the gene pool checked.

Profession is the only thing anyone would want to know that isn't plainly obvious or entirely irrelevant.

I don't think he asked for a list, Kristopherb. ;)

Personally, my religion is what most defines who I am. It gives me the greatest of my purposes.

First thought: WTH ?
Second thought: What was the question ?
Third thought: I'm thirsty.
Forth thought: What was the question again ?
Fifth thought: I am me.

What do i vote ?

When someone asks what are you?? To me, it's usually what I do.

Race wise, everyone in my school assumes I'm Korean, for some reason, in elementary, every Asian is either Chinese or Jap, but in High School, everyone thinks everyone is Korean. I'm Chinese.

I usually just tell them I'm Caucasian and that's it. My friends are all white and they all assume I'm white. And that's how I like it.

First I thought position like in a sport. But of these choices, Gender. then Nationality.

I'm a bad cat in a bad hat.

Doin' you a real big favor.

I'd probably identify myself as human before any of those.

@Gelion: Watched it a couple of times, just couldnt get into it. Im very picky when it comes to Sci Fi shows.
I know how it can be a problem. I started watching it in the middle of season 2 - best time to start if you didn't from the beginning. If you could come over I'd lend you my collection.

If asked that question, the first thing that comes to mind, if asked here in the US or on a forum, would be nationality, because that's how I stand out here in the US and on the forums. If asked in Norway I would probably say gender (man). But none of those things are the most important to me, religion is.

"What are you?"

"Your worst nightmare, pal." *draws pistol*

:joke:

I'm a human being. Frankly most of the other options are fairly poor for me, either because I'm not particularly emphatic about them, or because they've changed over time anyway.

With no context, the first one would be "student". However, my first instinct was to ask "in what context?".
If I'm on the train, it might be "travelling from/to Wales/Birmingham. Or "tired" or "annoyed with slow trains" or "trying to read, please don't ask me stupid questions".
If I'm in town, it might be "no I'm not going to give you money/fill in your survey/etc", "looking for this shop", "looking for this item", "going towards the organic stall", "feeling weird being the only non-Chinese person being in the Chinese supermarket", "a customer of HSBC", "I can't afford that so don't ask me", "too busy to talk to people asking weird questions", etc.
If I'm in university, it'll probably be "final year" or "Natural Sciences".
If someone is trying to find out stuff about me, it might be "female", "single", "22", "straight", "brown eyes, dark-blond hair", etc...

Can a question truely be free of context? Like Matilda said context can come from who you ask and where. But it can come from who asks the question too, right? If the guy (context right there) is asian and asks me I would reply difrent then if a stoned hippy girl in pig tails asked.

If someone is trying to find out stuff about me, it might be "female", "single", "22", "straight", "brown eyes, dark-blond hair", etc...

Do you like long walks on the beach and candle lit dinners too?

My first answer is my nationality which I would bet in the real world is probably the first answer along with profession.

The first answer should be religion/philosophy because that is the most consequential.

I'm my own man, my own person, unique.
