Ran out of shirts, so I decided to do a load of laundry. Realized that it's often 'shirts' that cause me to schedule another session of laundry. What do you run out of that causes you to do a load of laundry?

I do whites and colored laundry separately, for the colored stuff usually its pants I run out of for the whites its usually underwear.

I do it as soon as I think I've enough for a load of washing.

I'd rather wash in small quantities more frequently than wait until I've run out of something.

And who wants a lot of dirty laundry lying around the place, festering?
----------------------------------------

As for underpants, in my earlier days, why would I have needed to wash them at all? Just turn them inside out, and all the crusty bits will rub off and trickle out through the legs of your jeans. (It's a bit like the Great Escape.)

I do it every weekend to wash my work clothes. I usually throw whatever casual clothes I wear during the week in there too.

I tend to run out of underwear and undershirts ( vests) first but that's because I only wear them once.

I rarely wear socks in the summer, so underwear is what defines laundry day for me. I run out of that before I run out of shirts anyway.

So, after how long do you decide to wash these socks?

You're in a hottish Kurdistan, right? Those socks will begin to reek, surely?

Have you thought of putting them in the freezer, pro tem?

Work clothes, usually pants or shirts.

Everything else gets incredibly bad treatment from me. I totally need to do a crapload of laundry this weekend, but with the world cup and all the scheduled drinking, I doubt it'll happen.

I prefer not to have white clothes, since I have two non-white-haired cats.

Plus, I have a pink shawl that was white until my grandmother washed it with one of my red SCA costumes, and a slip that was white until someone helped me with the laundry and washed it with a blue blanket.

When I run out of 'roos.

The weekend initiates laundry cycles.

I normally throw the socks in with the underwear so it's once a week at least. I haven't checked the temperature but I think it's been over 40 this week so it is really hot now.

Also, there's no downtown option. Did that stop being a feature of polls and I never noticed?

Socks, underwear, and shirts are all common causes of me doing laundry, with socks probably being the most important. This does not necessarily mean that I do laundry as soon as I run out of something - I am not above rewearing relatively non-smelly dirty clothes so as to put it off longer.

Definitely underwear & socks. I don't wear underwear during the day but I wear a different pair to sleep every night. Shirts you can rock for 2-3 days straight if necessary (unless it causes a problem at work or with getting laid), pants 4-5 days straight (unless you're working out/sweating alot/a smelly person) so it's usually underwear, sometimes socks but socks you can wash in the tub in a pinch & dry on the radiator.

Underwear and socks. I actually have a lot more clothes than I ever wear. So if I didn't let the laundry pile up, some things would go years without being worn.
