While We Wait: Boredom Strikes Back

Merry Christmas Everyone! :xmas:

Meh. I'm not getting anything, and I don't feel like watching everyone else get presents and be happy. So I'll stay in my room and watch Toy Story 3 so I can remember how sad life is.

Why are you not getting anything? I thought you had a partner?

Why go all bah humbug and say you don't want anything?! It can be little, inexpencive gifts! Did you not get her anything?!

I'm super poor this Crimbo so I baked all my relatives cookies! :D

Happy Christmas.

Happy holidays. Is there much interest for a fresh start NES with an entirely customizable military, undefined tech tree, more solid, defined trade routes, and asNES-style military quality?

Not quite so difficult an attempt to mod as my last NES, A New World, A Fresh Start. ( http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=375176 )

Tech period?

Why would be that easier for you to mod?

Abaddon: Because it's less grand scale, and starting off slow, to give me a feel for modding.

Kozmos: Starts copper age. Techs are somewhat out of the control of the players, and if unaugmented at all, will develop somewhat along the lines of our timeline.

Problem with fresh starts is getting to the interesting point of the game.. which can be many updates.. you need to get to the era of colonisation imo.. or at least rapidly get to the point our borders touch..

You need to get to the era or background which moderator enjoys modding and feels certain about - for me it's fantasy lore, for someone it might be alternative timeline, for some it might be modern age. Sure, colonization era might be fun to you, as a player ... but it's not so much fun, if NES dies after three updates - due to not being interesting enough for moderator... Anyhow, Elt, Keep going there!

Eltain, I'll play regardless, but I think a fantasy fresh start would be pretty cool... Even moreso if it was set in a "pre-industrial" fantasy reality, that is, a Tolkienesque world on the verge of the industrial revolution.

EDIT: If you've played Rise of Legends, technology could be considered a foil to magic, and in the creation of your nation you could specify which is the "specialization" of your country. This would be even more fuel for stories, etc.

So I was looking at Abbadon's last post on JNES and it made me think, if this were facebook I would "like" that sh*t. And obviously there are sites like youtube, huffpo or other social media sites that allow you to link up with facebook and do stuff like "like" stuff. But at the moment I had this thought I realized a sharp distinction between the gritty old faceless internet of forums and, well, the facebook. Don't get me wrong, it's not that I "Unlike" facebook or forums, both have their place, but with the looming abolition of any form of net neutrality I do wonder sometimes whether they will both be able to survive.

So, I was bored, it's Boxing Day and I wanted to go home but I'm snowed in at my parents and so here I am, faceless on a forum, seeking an outlet to complain, also a little drunk. The point being that Jason should update his NES, or at least he should have allowed us to send orders through the holiday instead of his ridiculous due time, and also that I understand that it was the holidays and do not mean a whole lot of offense, but am bored and feel compelled to register that on the forums.
