I find it hysterical that we have threads picking VPs that both reference people who are very unlikely to get nominated anyway.

Trump seems more likely, even probable to get nominated. Sanders is still an underdog.

Anyway since Trump is a full on nutjob, he should just go for the craziest person he can find. I'd say either Rush Limbaugh or Dennis Rodman.

Might want to take a look at the most recent analysis by Nate Silver Hygro. Claims about Trump's "crossover appeal" are apparently hot air. His net favorability among independents is -27, and with Democrats it is a record shattering -70. Numerically, he has about as much chance of winning the general election as GWBush had at a third term.

No. According to analysis there's no way to get rid of him. Consider Ron Paul in the last Republican nomination race. He carried his rabid delegates all the way to the convention and caused plenty of trouble, even though he never had enough delegates to even matter.

Trump has a base of about 35% of Republicans and holds them consistently. In a splintered field 35% gives him a commanding lead. In a field of three for 35% to give him any lead at all the other two have to split the remainder almost dead down the center. In a field of two 35% is a crushing defeat...and there is no indication that he is capable of getting above the 35% he has carried so far. Just like Ron Paul, for the most part the people who haven't gone to him yet haven't because he has actively repelled them.

So Trump will get to the convention with more than enough delegates to cause problems, but 35% won't be the majority of delegates that is required to be nominated.

I suspect he'll pick someone to build his 'not a politician' credentials, while burnishing his 'serious candidate' ones.

So probably someone with a lot of civil service or military experience.

Edit: This would also be someone who has the least to lose with a trump VP pick.

That's an interesting question. As to which I have no idea really. Another outsider or a long established GOP'er? Both will have it's pros and cons.
