Why would an omnipotent being ever get angry?

If an omnipotent being were angry, why would he tell you?

That was a lighthearted approach to this reality: Most of the time when anger is attributed to someone else, as in "I don't understand what you are so mad about!" there is a better than even chance that the person the anger is being attributed to isn't angry in the first place.

So the question is, in dealing with this omnipotent being how do we merit being able to accurately attribute anger to said being? Omnipotent being unmakes the entire universe. Last human thought: "Why is he so angry?" Omnipotent being considers unmaking of the universe to be nothing more than an erasing of a chalkboard and is actually investing about that much emotional content in his actions.

Because principles had been violated?

You would not want to see rage on that level though.

So maybe God flooded us just cuz he didn't like how his Civilization was turning out & wanted a restart but humans in our frail understanding made it about wickedness, butt-humping & future Russel Crowe movies?

But if you're the boss, in total control you make the rules & can ensure they are followed. If they get violated its because you lost control which means you're not omnipotent.

Only other logical conclusion is that God has a split personalities. One is omnipotent & one isn't & he can turn off the part that is in total control just to piss off the other part (though the only fun in surprising/tricking someone would be to see how they react but if he knows all he'd know how his other personality would react so not sure why that would be fun).

OE: here have free will to do some interesting things
OE: wait you are doing the wrong things!!
OE: *fit of rage*

 But as I said in the other thread is he gave us free will then he lost his omnipotence. To be totally in control no one else can have a will.

Now you're making me feel guilty for all the times I used the bulldozer when I used to play Sim City (the original version) on my Amiga. I'd use the 'get money' cheat to get enough to run the bulldozer continuously, then raze the entire screen to bare, scorched earth. And then I wouldn't build anything else.

Or all those times in Ports of Call when I wouldn't bother fixing the ship and the sailors eventually drowned because the ship sank...

I'd make a terrible deity. :shake:

Sim games are actually not a bad metaphor for a deity. The question you need to answer is what is the goal? What do all the sim people work toward? Would it make sense to them if they could see it?

When I was younger, my SimCity 2000 playtime mostly consisted of me taking pre-built cities that came with the deluxe edition and then starting an apocalypse by having every damn disaster happen at once, sometimes multiple times, leaving the entire city to be consumed by fire, hurricanes, earthquakes, rioters, UFOs, constant plane crashes... pretty much utterly destroyed. And then I'd start from the beginning again just to rein more destruction on the helpless masses. :mwaha:

I was one messed up elementary school kid.

Actually I still have my old SimCity 2000 CD. Maybe I should do it again sometime for stress relief.

I don't know, seems like you would at least be as good as the one we have now. I mean, just look at this world. It is clearly not being paid any attention by any deity out there.

I loved playing Black and White

Its a game where you play as a God.

Technically you are not Omnipotent

But you can get ridiculously powerful though you can get to the point where you can fire multiple Mega blasts which blast people with pure beams of energy though the cost in Prayer power is prohibitive - Unless you have ALOT OF PEOPLE

I used to love burning people alive with fire balls (both cheap and effective - though setting fire to trees near rocks then using "hotrocks" as missiles was a real joker - its a very fun game who dos not engage in sadism every so often?

Now heres an idea (thats heresy though which would allow free will) what if God is not all powerful?

Or what if there are competing Gods some of whom are very angry....

Humans in our self centeredness. "The flood!!! It must be all about us, right?"

 It plays out on the human level every day.

"Why would you do such a thing to me???"

"Ummmm. Errrrrmmmm. Who are you, exactly? And what was it I've done?"

For the same reason I get angry when I get my allowance grounded. His Omnipotence is not true Omnipotence but merely the "Logically Viable" version. So, temper tantrums at the unfairness of it all.

But omnipotence only means potentially being totally in control. An omnipotent being does not have to exercise this control.
