Add your MINOR gripes ...

People who call it CIV instead of Civ4.

OK, raise your hand: who else besizes me reads CIV as "siv" instead of as "see four". You don't get to mix alphabet and roman numerals. That is either "siv" or in roman numerals it is "one hundred and four".

I don't want to play One Hundred And Four, I want to play Civ4. :cooool:

Meh... Civ4 requires typing an extra character. Where cIV means the same thing and is understood with one less character. It's like saying they shouldn't have named Terminator 2 T2 because someone might think it's a movie about medium strength Tylenol.

Anyhow... My minor gripe which remains to be seen is the length of time it takes a distant overseas city to build a harbor. If it took as long in life as it does in game, America would be nearly 5 decades behind it's current development.

Well, about everyone will read T2 "Te-Two".
For my part, most of time, I read "siv". And I type Civ-4. Using my full 10 fingers, I can lose a micro-second typing the extra letters :D

Micro-gripe : Attack and defend being fused.
Saltpeter not being needed. It will be easily moddable so I don't worry about that but I'm wondering why they did it.

@pacifist: lol! good news, though!
but that brings me a problem: whats my minor gripe, now? lol :)

@sirian: heheh funny - i always read siv, though!

as for the hammers - brings back memories from colonization.
you'll feel the same in civ8, when they go back to shields. Eheoaeuh ;P

Civ-4 is not there until november :cry:
Sorry, that is a MAJOR gripe! :)
EDIT: Damn it! I didn't saw someone said it a few psot before! :mischief:

I detest "CIV" as well. It's not a matter of what looks good or bad, the word CIV is genuinely unclear as to what it refers to. And if people are so genuinely lazy as to refuse to type "Civ4" (one extra keystroke!), that's just sad. :)

I also think that it should simply be called "Civ4". This will make searching through threads MUCH easier.

Heh, if you write "CIV" you'll get many different results that won't match what you're looking for.

Ok, ok. I admit that I used to call it CIV a few months ago, but Civ4 is still more fitting and practical.

Well, for the sake of a search engine, I'll agree that civ4 is better.

But from a creative standpoint CIV is the best option :mischief:

No kidding. I got so many useless results when I went searching for C4. I don't care about plastic explosives, tell me about the game.

@apatheist
I'm a C4 user <insert explosion> :lol:

I use C4 & C3 when I'm talking about Civ4 and Civ3
It's just easier for me to type C4 and C3 when I need to use it repeatedly :)
Maybe I'll put in at least one "Civ4" in the mix from now on so the search results pick it up :)

Actually, upon further inspection, I think that the border brightness is fine.

Or it could be name CIVIV...
If you turn the last "c" of Honda Civic, you actually get CIVIV!!!!!!! (in a certain way)
I agree that I prefer civ4 than CIV. CIV is just civ. At least C-IV!

my bet is you own a civic, and you actually turned the C on its rear, you sick fanatic! :cool:

Minor gripe: I have time to think about minor gripes when what I would rather be doing is playing Civ4 (or CIV, or whatever)
