Spanish - of Spain, the Kingdom of Spain, or part of the Spanish nation-state
Just because some people like to Spanish to mean Castilian doesn't mean they're right, especially when you considered the shared experiences of different peoples - Castilians, Catalans, Basques, Andalusians, Galicians, etc - united in a single nation-state - Spain - over the last five centuries.
"British" is not a neutral term either.

Do you know the difference between language and dialect?
Trust me, Catalan is not a dialect.
There is no single serious linguist that considers Catalan as dialect, even those who are Franco followers or Spanish unionists.
