Anno Domini

I started up a game as the Brigantes, which I abandoned since I turned out to be stuck on a tiny island.

Some initial comments:

Cheeky name for the top difficulty level. :goodjob:

I think the dark terrain fits very well.

The Nomads look like their going for a romantic picnic at the beach.

I didn't know bonus resources could be requirements for buildings.

I'll be having more to say when I've been playing more.

They can't. You're surely mistaken a unusual strategic resource for a bonus resource (wheat perhaps).

>If you delete everything but goodyhuts and railroads, you'll be able to use Firaxis' default terrain with Roman Roads (and appropriate goodyhuts).
No need to delete anything, just add the folder with the chosen terrain files in the scenario properties :) My only problem with this terrain is that it's hard to tell if it's ocean or sea.

Little feedback: Whales are strategic resources. Surely an error as it's useless to have a strategic or luxury "water-resource".

You're right. Initially, a city was going to require whales in it's radius to build the Whaler. Then I realised that you'd need a road connecting to the whales, which obviously can't happen. I changed the Whaler, but forgot to change the whales back.

It turns out Game is a strategic resource, but labeled as a bonus resource in the 'pedia.

Damnit! I'm right in an exam period and Anno Domini comes out  Do you realize you're ruining my grades, Rob ;)

Okay, I started my first game playing as the Athenians. Now I'm in the second era, and I'm struck in a fierce war against Illyria. And things look quite bad for Athens

All in all, the gameplay is very balanced and Anno Domini is plain fun to play.
The only complaints I would have are about some minor issues on city naming. But that's not really important. Oh, and although I realize it's too late to complain about which civs you chose, it's a pity the Etruscans aren't in :(

BTW I'm curious who made the city graphics for the first era of the Mediterranean civs? Can't remember to have seen that before.

Ermm... the game just kept crashing on me. No error message, it just stopped, and returned me to the desktop. I was playing as the Moors, and i went to the city screen to view my improvements, and right-clickd on "Woodcutter's House". The game just suddenly exited. It happened more than once. Any ideas why?

Varlin, either Supa or TLC also had that problem...I have just avoided right clicking the buildings over there...I know you cant sell buildings, but this MOD is incredible, and one little glitch is an avoidable problem...just "pretend" your cant click on em anyway

Except that I also cant distinguish the Sea from Ocean unless my moni is clean, I think this terrain is awesome...To find out it is Firaxiis is a surprise...

@ RX8...any chance of a list of your unique units(or is there one?) so I can try out the civs they are in(I dont wann cheat and look at em in Flicster until Ive played with em...)

Im currently playing Egypt (after being trounced as the Erie by Nubia)...Having much better luck...More of the "resource specific" buildings...
The Wonders and Splashes are very nice...all around :hatsoff: to everything Ive seen...

Great job, R8XFT.

I just made the weekly new Civ3 files announcement and am happy to say that your modpack is the featured file!

Gosh, I went back to the main CivIII screen and there was Boudicca lunging at me, large as life and twice as natural! That gave me a bit of a turn, I can tell you.

I think this will become one of the "standard" mods that we see floating in the top few listed threads in this sub-forum for a good while to come. I certainly hope so. As I've said on previous occasions, this mod should be a great boost to beginning modders and scenario creators. Anyone who wants to make an ancient/medieval mod could do a lot worse than take this mod, make a map, decide which civs go where, and voila - instant scenario, without having to mess about adding units etc. All the best units for these periods are in the mod already.

Dang it!

I might have to tear myself away from Civ4 to give this a go.

Now all my strategies will get jumbled together :(

Great Work! I bow to you talents!

Cheers!

OMG... it's finally here! Long-awaited and looked forward to!

Thank you for making this truly olympian work a reality. Can't wait to spend sleepless nights playing it!

ok. i downloaded to civIII/conquests/scenarios and have no idea how to access the file. run conquests and i can't see anything new. checking the folder and all i have is: anno.rar in with the other scenarios. what do i have to do now?

Edit: looks like in need winRAR is that correct? i have winZIP only. is this the problem?

You need to download WinRAR and use it to unpack anno.rar. This will produce two files, Anno Domini (the biq, or bix, or whatever they are these days) and a folder called Anno Domini. Ensure that both of these are in your conquests/scenarios folder. Then go to the main screen of the game and click Civ Content, and there it will be!

You do need WinRAR to decompress the files. If you google for it, there's lots of sites you can download a shareware version ;) .

Thanks to everyone for the kind comments; it's nice to see Thunderfall posting in the thread as well; I hope you play it too!

There are some slight civilopedia glitches, such as listing game as a bonus resource instead of a strategic one - like I mentioned before, I can iron these out very quickly and they are minor faults.

The website is undergoing a MAJOR re-organisation at the moment and I'm hoping to relaunch it soon. It includes further info on each civ, including all the units each one can build, the flavour buildings/techs they have etc. Every civ has one unique unit, like the epic game and there is some real variety. If you're curious about each civ's UU, every civ has a civilopedia entry with a link to the UU, which has a description of what it is, what it's replacing and in what way it is superior to that unit.

Thank You. got it running. briefly glanced through the tech tree; this one will take a few days to process. it's getting too late for me to start in tonight, but something fun to look at for a friday night and the soon to come long winter. an incredible effort. i like the redesigned turn display. :goodjob:
