I know there is already the Rise of Asia mod, but I feel like making an Asian mod. I just went to Korea and recently went to Taiwan so I felt inspired a little. Also I'd like to use some of Kyriakos new city sets.

So, some of the details:
All Asian civs
UUs in each era
Different Leaders in each era.
Civs or culture groups will have their own unit lines.
Barbarian civs will play a large role (more on this later)

Unit Line Eras:
Neolithic -> Bronze Age -> Iron Age -> Classical -> Dark Age -> Early Medieval -> High Medieval -> Renaissance -> Industrial -> WWI -> WWII -> Modern

You know you could have 2 eras only, and 10 different sets for them :) Besides, most of my stuff is ancient/medieval.
If I did that trading techs would be difficult I think.

Maybe I can merge Tibetan with Steppe, since the cities look similar. I sent you a PM btw

Yes, i just replied. And yes, merging Tibetan with Steppe is a good idea since i am not really sure if i will create a Steppe set. In my own mod (the Genghis Khan II one) i planned to use the Tibetan set for the Mongols as well :)

steppe towns looked similar to those of the tibet??? common people.........:faint:

from khiva, absolute spectacular city, in contrast tibetan monasteris are not necessarily of idealised shape, like the square, and they occupy hilltops, steppe cities have a nearly horizontal skyline broken by some very supple buildings....

They are, surely, from the Islamic phase of the Steppe people.

What did pre-Islamic steppe settlements look like?

There would still be a lot of similarities with the pre-Islamic Persian architecture which existed here since the first milenium BC.

EDIT: Though perhaps it could just about work if you moved the Turks into the "Indian" culture group perhaps?

i agree with virote, mentioning that same materials and buildings culture persisted under islamic rule blending into muslim architecture. there is always the fact that a certan area provides someone with certain materials so the legacy continues. of course there must be a heavy sassanian, and earlier influence comming from the persian area, certainly budism and manicheism and so on are well dated by grote pictures. but the heavy trend would be similar to the above presented. :hammer:

so there are are similitudes to round baghdad, see there was a sort of tradition....::eek2:

The steppes is a vast region, so there are many different styles and ethnicities. When I say steppe I am talking about Mongolia, Western China, and Manchuria (although technically not steppes)

Its not perfect, but I am greatly limited by the designers of Civ 3 to hardcore limitations of things like culture groups. The Western steppe style you posted would only work for the Turks, but since Turkic is a large term they could fit into the Eastern steppe culture. I am not sure what style the Gokturks (who are who the Turks in this mod will be) used, they had a large empire.

Updated the civs, put Turks into Indian culture group

Started thinking of UUs, UUs aren't the only different or unique (graphically) units a civ will have, but UUs are something that are greatly superior to common units. This may be attack, defense, or cost, or ability.

Suggestions are welcome, please use spoilers. And it would be nice to give a little info and a picture.

There is no Persian civ or culture group in my game. I was thinking of not putting India on the map, but it was impossible since I wanted to have Tibet and South East Asia, I didn't feel like leaving a large dark spot where India is. Modern Pakistan is as far as the map goes Westward. Even though Iran is technically Asian

-I don't suppose you'd consider putting Russia in, if you could somehow make it start extremely isolated, although with room to expand. You could put it in an "Indo-European" culture group(I think languages are classified like that) or maybe as Steppe. Russia did play a big role in Asia from the 1700s on.
-Also, shouldn't Fascism be a government too? I'm not sure, but I thought Japan's WW2 government is considered fascist.
-I believe that Taiwan had its own culture and nation until it was invaded at some point by either Japan or China, but it might merit being its own civ.

This looks very interesting, hope it goes well!

EDIT: The Taiwanese Kingdom of Middag was conquered in 1732.

Russia wont be in, they expanded into Asia much later as you said. I might make them major barbarians in the West with settlements.

Japan's WWII government was militaristic and nationalistic, it became ruled by the military but they didn't have one party or one ruler. But Facisim can be added.

Taiwan did have their own culture, but they island was never unified by the natives. They will be a major barbarian faction with their own units. Maybe if I make an expansion I will add them, and blend their unit like with the ROC.
