Asian Mod

i do not know if it is right to say this at this point, my only concern are the elephant units that would appear eventually. since the best elephant line (though short) belonged to yang liu, could you, shiro, ask him to help, or get his modells, since they are looking and moving very accurate. my personal opinion is that there would be a waste of time if an elephant unit would not look similar to those mentioned. every creator has his own pride, so it is really wrong what i told here, but it is for the sake of the community, i think, and for the improving of your skills, i think, that i said that. maybe you will come with a better unit. however i am eagerly awaiting your exotic units and i am already rubbing my hands in hot expectation.

I hope this works, Asian Elephant

yes, you are right: i, everybody likes to play standardized units, it is important as an eye candy option, very important. i am worried about the elephant size, isn't he a little small?? as much as i read, till now, is that not all elephants were mature, they were simply a familiy, of elder females, with adolescentes, so you might be right. battle of qadisya says it all, the leading female got the trump chopped and the eyes speared, so the family turned around and went havoc through "their own ranks".

ps: maybe a bigger elephant would be better

no, really make it bigger, yang liu did a big one if you remember, and it also had a turret, once such high standard is achieved, and such cultivated public lurks as guests, in their thousands, we all have great expectations, especially of you.....so do not disappoint the public :trouble:

I'll think about it, but his Indian king unit was way too big and it was an African elephant. I don't want Elephants being so big especially when it looks like it would crush a tank unit or Supa's Godzilla.

I might scale it to fit in with Doms, Utahs, and the vanilla elephants

Yang Liu's elephant units are too big (compared to previous standard). Anyone wanting to use them should resize them.

Shiro, did you manage to find an Asian morph for DAZ3D's elephant ? They propose a morph for the Baby Elephant but it's 5$.

i found something, maybe, of use

of course the indian elephant is smaller, but however it seems yang liu' elephant has specific lowering on the head - which means it is indian after all, or am i wrong?? :yup:

if it was once possible, why not again??

ps i read thomas morus ten years ago and the single fact i remember is that one should see his future wife naked, presented by her father, for the reason of knowing the ware you are purchasing. so, down with the package, we want to see the content, since we are the users of the respective unit. of course, i am joking, but really the unit is not a product reflecting the pride or the fix idea of somebody, but also the everday food of the gamer. one might say it is more important to the gamer than to the creator, because the first does not taste it so deep as the second. and there is always the admiration for the work of another, so smoeone else's creations appear always more beautifull than they really are...:p

Same reason nobody makes a spearman unit the same size of my Godzilla: it has to match previous units of the same type. Why were these units this size ? Probably because it was the best compromise between details, realistic proportions and pragmatic considerations.

the size of the head, the ears, the tusks and the whole body of Yangs elephants mean they are African.
As I said my elephant is slightly smaller, than average maybe .5 meters of a male adult. I wont increase the size, I may make the human smaller though.
Adult males are never above 2.7 meters, females 2.3 so pretend they are all teenagers.
Scale
It may be possible to make it bigger, but I dont think it would fit in well at a larger size, as I said before tanks, plans and ships are scaled down. So I think elephants should be too.
I've also never seen his Yang's units in game. I know Imperator's artillery units were too big and had problems, so he scaled them down a bit.

@stupa I havent bought any morphs. Do you think he still looks too African? If so I will play around a bit more

The ears are a give-away - can you reduce them without deforming the model ? I've played with it quite a long time ago so I don't remember..
You can make the tusks invisible.
Of course, it doesn't have the general body-type of an asian elephant but with an appropriate texture and the previous modifications, I'm sure it will perfectly fine.

pay attention to the back legs, they are nor frog legs, the line of the leg could be more towards the vertical, also the head seems a little large, like that of an baby elephant, just take an elephant to man comparison picture and watch it in prallel with a side view of the unit....than u will hev the clearest indications possible. ;)

The placement of the legs was the default post from the creator. But I moved them forward a bit.

I think the size of the head is fine, it may not be the right shape, but its the best I can do right now. Even in the scales you posted the head was a little smaller than 1/2 half of the torso.
