Faster Loading/Turn Times in Scenarios/Mods

Could you please post here the folder search path of SOE?

In the scenario properties of the editor, where you tell in what additional folders civ should look to find stuff?

I suspect it has nothing to do with a special root for conquest, but rather that it look first for the first entry in this path

so if it says "..\Conquest; ..\SOE", it will be faster if you put stuff in conquest rather than in SOE

However, if it says "..\SOE; ..\Conquest", then we should expect opposite results

Hi Steph,

in the scenario search folders, there only stands: Storm over Europe C3C
and all files for it now are in the conquest folder, including the biq.

In former times, when all files including the biq were in the scenario folder, the game was much slower in loading time and in turn times.

I spoke about halfing the loading time from 10 to 5 minutes with this transfer. The turn time for turn one, which is one of the longest in SOE -with all animations on - was speeded up from more than one hour to 38 minutes and to 19 minutes with all animations off (which is still too long).

HI Civinater Intresting develpment coming out of THe 4ums today...

THis afternoon A new member burst on the sceane in a big way claiming to have the answer for tremendous memory enhancement. @SlyFlyer has said on his "I Fixed the MAF Error...Here is How!!" he's found a way to use the orginal Civ4Warlords.exe file to improve perfomance.

Thought you might be able to say if this program would be able to work its magic on the CIv3 and help SOE climb to higher gear come late game.

I just PM'd an Im waitng for him to get back. You know Im no pro-grade modder or even well enough into the structure with this game to make any assumptions on whether this is good or means nothing for us.. All Im going by is knowing theres a file in CIv3 similar to the one hes refering to and IM thinin you can change res' and stuff like that with it.
Hey I could be wrong but any news like this with potential to save hundreds of hours for everyone and mybe even get SOE launched a lil earlier, needs to be examined and not ignored. I just wanted to make sure qualified personel got a chance to read into it.

Interestingly, I was unable to reproduce these results with LotM. I made a test scenario with lots of cities, units, and trade connections, and loaded copies from Scenarios and Conquests. Granted, the initial load time was less than 5 minutes to start with, but it was exactly the same as far as I could tell in both locations. :undecide:
I'll try it again with a more ludicrously complex scenario. I should be loading the Scenarios copy with "Civ-Content" and the Conquests copy with "Conquests!", right?

Thank you all for your feedback. :)

@ Stormrage: It´s great that WH runs smoother with these settings.

@ Weasel Op: I can´t say why there was no gain in speed with LotM. Did you install all files of LotM in the Conquest folder, too ?

@ T.A JONES, thank you for the link. May be we give this a try for SOE. But first we try something different. ;)

Yes, I simply copied....
oh. I just thought of something. Stand by.

Ok, so... All of the files are not in Conquests\Conquests. The Medieval Japan folder is in the search path, though I'm not even sure if the current version uses any of those units. Also, the leaderhead flics are in a separate Net Art folder in Conquests, but that's the same as WH. Stormy, did you move the flics?

Actually WH doesn't use the Net Art folder anymore (the idea was that if all mods use it, space would be shared, but we now how it ended) though it does use Medieval Japan. My suggestion would be to also move LotM flics inside LotM as well for the new version, and who knows, maybe the side effect will be it'll work faster ;)
