Godzilla '70 (18 June 2006)

Ah! In the words of my runescape freinds, Godzilla from the 70's p00ns the corny American Godzilla film!

EDIT: He even looks like he's made out of *MS WORD CANNOT TELL ME HOW TO SPELL THE WORD*, like he was in the 70's!

Nice unit, Supa. :) I think he looks more cute than monstrous, though.

Godzilla was never plasticene, though. He was Suitmation!

Yes, that's what they officially called it. It was actually very effective in the early films - before they had him doing dances...

Hehe. '70s Godzilla was in indeed a goofy fellow :)

Wow, I'm sorry I missed this till now. I wish I could use this in my mod. Great unit.

You really captured the feel of thoes terrible movies!

Terrible? I would GLADLY watch a marathon of old Godzilla movies than half the crap coming out of Hollywood these days.

Come to think of it, I would rather watch Godzilla movies than ANY movie that's come out so far this year.

Yeah, there's been little to no effort to make anything with something called, I don't know, PLOT?

Lame hollywood...

You guys should see the original, Japanese version of Godzilla, "Gojira". The plot was much, much better, and that idiot Raymond Burr wasn't in it. Plus there weren't any badly dubbed Japanese guys, there were subtitles, :D.

[Supa] They're exactly the same, apart from the language. (It's a myth that in the original Godzilla defeated Kong but they changed it for the US release!)

As for the US release of the original film, I thought it was pretty good. Re-editing it all like that and putting in a new main character didn't really work, but at least they cared enough about the film to try to make it more relevant for American audiences. They could have just dubbed it and not bothered. Those American producers may not have understood Gojira very well, but they respected him, and that's what counts!

I seriously doubt that the "tv-show" scene were in the Japanese version. They looked very "add-on" to me and to various reviewers on the net (I know the different ending is a rumour, but the movie has been changed)

Wow, first Mosura and now Gojira!

The original Godzilla was released in Japan in 1954 with a run time of 98 minutes. The American version with Raymond Burr was released in 1956 (with the title Godzilla, King of the Monsters) with a run time of 80 minutes. The American director shot new material but also deleted many Japanese scenes.

King Kong does not put in an appearance in the original Godzilla. For that we have to wait until 1962. If you want the original Japanese versions of either movie go to moviesunlimited.com and search by title (godzilla). They are available or pending release (pre-orders available).
