I don't know what different kinds there are!!! I would make it in the shape of an animal, and I would make it smell like how I imagine that animal to smell if the smell were reflective of the grace and elegance of that animal (rather than how they actually smell).

Unfortunately they run away from mine.
Which is why I just use ordinary bar soap in a shower and liquid stuff for my hands. None of this anti-bacterial crap, since it generally will not be useful, just a scare campaign.

A bar and towel works perfectly for me. One lather on the towel is good for an longer time. As I understand it, there are some people who apply the bar directly to their body, which is just madness. As for liquid soap, as long as it isn't like bodywash which doesn't lather and has to be reapplied after just a few passes of a single body part. I'd use them at the end because some of them feel and smell nice and crisp but to clean it's just too much hassle.
And I really hope no one's using bar and liquid soap on their face, because it isn't for that! Get a cleanser, people.

This. I have kinda dry skin, and although I believe bar soap is more demoisterizing than other kinds it's more important that it's all off when I'm finished. Other kinds of soap just never comes off completely (or so it feels). I still use them for variation.
Soap on the towel?
Didn't know about that practice. I've only ever used towels to dry myself. I thought cleanser was for pimple problems, but wikipedia agree that it's better for face-wash.

Bar is nice, but liquid can be far cheaper.
You can even make it at home! Just need a big pot, long rubber gloves and a helper who isn't afraid of chemical burns.
But if you buy and it's Doc Bronner's brand you can spend some quality time reading the label.

Wrong! Though the important differences are not the subject of this thread.
The biggest difference-maker is so-called anti-bacterial soap. Try to avoid it if at all possible. Yes, it kills 99% of bacteria, but what of the other 1%? Now they have a cleared and primed breeding ground to expand upon uninhibited. Which is bad. Use regular hand soap, or an alcohol-based hand sanitizer (or outright rubbing alcohol) if you really want to sterilize your hands.

I love that soap! It's the only liquid soap that rinses as clean as bar soap, it even rinses better. It's a bit too drying for constant use though, for me anyway. It's super-multi-purpose awesomeness. I just wish it were a little more viscous.

I buy soap once a year or so. I go to Costco and buy a 32 or 16 pack of Irish Spring, which lasts me about 6 months or a year, depending on which one I get. I like to stock up on stuff like that so I don't have to constantly keep buying it.. Plus it saves me money!
I also have hand sanitizer/squirt soap type stuff in all my bathrooms for my guests. It's that fancy stuff with lavender or coconut or strawberries or whatever. The Irish Spring is mainly for my morning showers.

My thoughts on it exactly. Even if you could scientifically prove it kills all the bacteria that would linger on it, it still just disgusts me, the idea of sharing it with someone.
I guess we all can have irrational thoughts.

I usually don't have a problem, but it's close... I've tried adding glycerin, which is what many bars use as a moisturizer. But then it doesn't rinse as cleanly - not worth it.
You can get Castile soaps that aren't as drying, btw. But I doubt they rise as clean. Not sure, though. I can't remember what a 100% olive oil bar is like...

Actually what it does is break open most bacteria. So when you rub it on you're smearing a sort of bacterial slurry all over your body.
That's a good thing because the "bacteria guts" stimulate your immune system. When you share a bar with someone you encourage mutual resistances. The more people you share a bar of soap with, the more resistant to disease you become.

My favorite kind of soap is unscented bar soap. There's a goat soap I quite like.
I use soap for cleaning, and preventing the edges of my snowboards from rusting.
I buy soap whenever I run out, and in the most bulk packages possible, so between 4-18 months.
I never use smelly soap for anything.
I wash my hands after I pee or poop.
I wash my hands long enough to scrub them thoroughly.
4 kinds of soap - dish soap, bar soap, hair soap and laundry soap.
Hand sanitizer is dumb.
I have never carved bar soap.
Antibacterial soap is dumb.
I don't remember any soap dispensers. I like automatic ones in public washrooms so I don't have to touch anything.
I buy relatively expensive soap, unscented goat's soap is not super cheap.
Dyes in soap are dumb.
Bar soap is cheapest and works as well as other soap, so I use it.
