INI files: "defend"

I'm bumping this as, thanks to Spacer One's dedication, it's the best thread about the DEFEND parameter.

Does anyone know when the DEFEND anim play during a fight ?
Does it trigger right after the FORTIFY, or does it happen sometimes after the repeating ATTACK(A/B) ?
 
It isn't.

Keep trying. It doesn't happen all the time after losing hit points. That's why I first thought it only happened when down to 1 hp. But after seeing it happen after losing only 1 (2 hp left) I realized it must be part of the turn-sequence.

I've *never* seen it happen in the first round though.

An additional question : does anyone know if it's a looping animation ?
 
If by 'looping' you mean that it's played over and over again, no. It'd appear to play once in a while. As usual with most Firaxis stuff, they haven't even made defend animations -they probably disabled it ingame to remove costs :shake: and so most people dropped it.
 
For some of the other apparently unused animations, maybe they might be dependent on unit flags?

E.g. could the "Dead" flag be used to, say, mark where "King" units have died or something?

Probably not, but maybe worth investigating.
 
Like a 'corpse' animation? Maybe a one-frame .flc for testies?
