The Trade Federation of New England
Color: Green
Claims: Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont, Rhode Island, and Connecticut
Currency: New England Pound (NEP)
History: After the collapse of the United States, the former states of New England became extremely weak, with powerful New York pressuring them. To combat this threat from the West, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts rallied the weak states around the idea of pan-New Englandism. The southern states, Rhode Island and Connecticut, readily agreed fearing New York interests in their many harbors and ports. The northern states of New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine were not so quick to conform. Only after New York began building fortresses along Lake Champlain did Vermont join the Federation. New Hampshire and Maine followed suit, but only after forcing the Federation to move the capital from Boston, MA to Concord, NH because they feared a Massachusetts dominated Federation.
